Online it is out of stock, but I went in store and the price is the same with rebates. Unfortunately, I have to pay tax in California

Price: $1,150
Rebates: $300
Tax: $95

Total: $945

I also did the Best Buy Rewards thing, so I paid $10 to possibly get about $40 in gift cards later... so maybe net out to $915 or so.

Obviously you make out better depending on tax.

Limited stock, so check your stores. The Online checking is different from what the store really has. Online said it was out of stock at my store, but when I went, they had two.

This deal (including some comments on the Radeon 9200) was discussed HERE last week.

Best Buy online is crap. Anyway I think this is a pretty decent PC. A month ago I was looking for a notebook and this came across but it was for 1300 AR. with $300 in rebates. I dunno how they've slashed the prices that much. Hmm but anyway even then I was getting the same PC for 1090 or some thing from hpshopping but it was backorder. Anyway I got another acer centrino for like $1050 I guess. It has been my best deal through ATOT. I got a 1.4 centrino/512 ram/40 GB/ CD & DVD Burner with 5hrs of battery backup for $1316 out of the door with taxes and 3 yrs best buy warranty. I think mine was a sweet deal !!

difference between this deal and the older BB compaq deal is that BB dropped the price by $100 yesterday.
So it's about $850 + tax.

last week's deal was based on a starting point of $1250
This deal has a starting point of $1150.

Maybe I should change the title to $850 + tax so you can see the difference clearer.

As stated last week "The price before rebate is $1249.99. There's a $150 and $50 BB MIR, and a $100 Compaq MIR. "

very attractive price for a Centrino. I just went to fry's and bestbuy to check this laptop and the toshiba laptop out. They both looks really nice. (Of course, toshiba's design looks more appealing but the keyboard is really "warm") I wish they will drop it to 750 dollars in the holiday then I will buy it in a heart beat.

Mine's sitting next to me right now, just got home from the store. I must say, Phuacu, thank you!!!! thank you!!!!

I saw your post, and thought - hey, pretty good deal. So I went to BB's site and I did a comparison (4 at a time, printed out) of all their laptops in the "under $1500" range. There is NO question that this is a hell of a deal. Centrino, 256MB (note - one stick, so easily taken to 512 or more), DVD player (widescreen movies on the airplanes now!), 40GB drive (yeah, just 4200 RPM though - but that's what almost everything is), Radeon 9200, built in wireless networking, it's slim, it's reasonably lightweight, and so far it doesn't feel hot on my legs sitting on the couch. I sat for over an hour and compared all their laptops side by side (printed out that is), and this (at $850 or so plus tax) after rebate was about equivalen to the others in the $1200 range or higher.

I'm not planning to game with it, just have it be my little buddy. I used my old Dell (PII 400) quite a bit, this will see even more action. Surfing on the weekends, movies while traveling, PlayerGenie when gaming D&D style, and a hell of a way to transport files around, dump the digi cam onto, etc. etc. I'm sure I'll load Warcraft or something similar on it, no doubt it can handle it. No plans for Call of Duty or anything like that - but that's not what laptops are designed for, at least not in this price range.

Anyhow, I'm ecstatic! This deserves as much attention as the Dell 2001FP monitor thread, which I can offically no longer afford, on credit or otherwise ;)

those forums are really good and useful. btw, this laptop gets about 5600 in 3dmark2k1. so it can play a bunch of games if you ever felt like it. its not desktop, but it is quite the laptop when it comes to games.

Thanks for the tip - however: " This account has been suspended. Either the domain has been overused, or the reseller ran out of resources."

:(

Uh oh, thanks I'm going to contact the web site owner and see what we can work out ;)

No longer an online hot deal, b&m only... YMMV should be added to the thread name now...
