As I'm sitting here waiting for my chinese order, I'm about ready to toss this at the wall while watching the loading bar race along at edge network speed.

So oh please god, is there any of the newer tmobile units that could fairly easily have the camera removed so I can use the faster speeds I'm paying for (a software removal does not work).

DBZ, give me your rundown of the 9780. I'm like 4 years out of contract and can get one now for $100 with an extension :)

What the fuck does the camera have to do with your network speeds?

Settle down. Nothing - but a lot of people can't have cameras at their workplace, and many of the older T-Mobile Blackberries had non-camera versions to satisify that requirement...but no 3G support. Although I believe the 9780 does have 3G, so may be mistaken on his model number. Or the thread title was about the one he wants, not the one he has.

You are correct, and I changed the title after I found this new model (which seems to have been out little more than a month based on the searching I did last night).

Probably head to a local store to pick one up and get a feel of it before calling and placing an order.

should change the title now to I  tmob.

been tmob customers for about 8 years, closing in on 4 without contract. lately the bill has been going up for messaging charges as I don't have any message plan and the cheapest per line being $5 didn't matter since it never went much above that. got the wife a nuron as her latest phone and first full smartphone category and the text charges have started to grow.

so i called retention and said wanted to look at getting my bill down and I finally managed to snag the ever elusive $10 family unlimited text plan. on top of that he bumped my way old grandfathered 400min family plan up to 600min at the same cost. I did have to agree to a contract extension, but they threw in a month free and I asked first about upgrading my phone (which would have ticked on an extension anyways). after verifying that $99 after rebate for the 9780nc I said I wanted to stop by the local store first before getting one shipped.

local place was OOS and the chick that was there said everyone in the area was out (hello, clue to you providers, people do want and need top of the line no camera choices). so i call back once i get home and use the call me option since they were busy. seems the person calling back wasn't in the retention department though. first she asked me what the first guy quoted me on the phone ($99 after MIR) and then went through the order process...but did so for the w/camera version. after I corrected her she said they didn't have a no camera version. I questioned her and she put me on hold then came back saying the same so I hung up and called back.

This time I waited on hold to get retention, and not surprisingly the guy knew about the phone. He did take a moment to find some supply of stock (if I were to guess since they've been selling so well they probably have a limited on hold reserve for replacement/warranty stuff and loyalty program deals). The best part and what makes the previous guys screwup ok, is he didn't ask me what the original quote was. So when he took my card info he quoted a price of about $75 total (he did say he was doing the MIR automatically). So seems I went from a 199-100 MIR to a 199-150AIR. (roughly about a $60 savings after calculating the MIR)

woo hoo, good times and the phone will be here by tuesday.

I'm using one right now. Chipped the lens on the camera of my 9700 and had to get a replacement. The OS6 on the 9780 (or even the 9700) is smooooth. It isn't an iPhone or even and Android, but if you like what Blackberry does, then you will like this phone. They have stepped up multimedia with the new OS, but it still not the game player that the iPhone is. There are still a couple of bugs that need to be worked out, like a cursor issue on BBM and some memory leaks when you use the new web browser, but that's about all I can find. Some people complain that typing on the keyboard can be troublesome, that you get repeating characters, I haven't had that problem.

Nope, there's no native support for .pdf in any of the new Blackberrys. I paid the $17 for Repligo.

Err, all of my OS5 and beyond BlackBerry's support PDFs without extra software. You wasted $17.

What program are you using? Which Blackberry? Blackberry does not include any software (outside of the trial suite for Docs 2 Go) that reads .pdf files on OS 5 or OS 6. Might be vendor software.......

Which BB would you like me to try it on? I have old Pearls on OS4 up to 9700's on 6, all unlocked with non-vendor OS'.

BB's read PDF attachments native.

im too lazy to read exactly what his issue is but if hes pissed about bad websurfing speeds on blackberry, the only cure for that is to get a different brand of phone, like iphone or droid. bb has bad hardware and bad software and the 3g radios in them are horrible, they cant maintain a connection and they are very slow. i just threw my bb tour away and got a droid x and now i get 2 Mbbs and it keeps a great connection. i can get 3g at my house in danville ca. with my bb i couldnt get 3g there at all with bb. so do yourself a favor and junk your bb and get a real, modern smartphone

Infraction for trolling: I know from personal experience about half of what is written isn't true.

They'll read .pdf files as long as the Docs2Go is still in the trial period. Blackberry does not include software to read .pdf files natively.

BBOS Supports reading PDF files as attachments without the need for extra software. Just did a search for mails with attachments on my OS5 Storm 2 and it opens natively. There is no stand alone reader, but then how are you getting the PDFs on there if not via email?

Ok, my other new phone just arrived, this time without the camera. Question though, first BBB didn't have a mem card so wasn't a question on the 2nd, but should I keep the new mem card in the new phone or use the old in it?

The majority of my pdf and e-mail files come through my company's Exchange network. In order to sync my calendars, task lists, etc. I use NotifySync to retrieve the info, rather than Blackberry's native e-mail client. It will not open .pdf files that are received in this manner.
