Argh my battery is gonna blow skipper!

I've had my BB 8700 for almost 2 years. I've never had battery problems or had to buy a new battery for any cell phone I've owned; although admittedly I use this one way more than any in the past. Over the last week I've been experiencing random shutdowns and thought it odd as the battery meter showed a decent amount left before the turnoff or I had charged it back up just before the turn off.

Today was one of the worse in that I had 4 shut downs even though I had it on the USB charger for a bit during the day. Is this normal for a BB? Anyone know about what a new battery will go for and a good source for them other than the retailer?

The CS2 battery is $50 from the blackberry accessories web store. I can't check ebay right now, but be aware that you need to have genuine batteries or it won't work.

PS: sounds like you battery is dead with memory effect issues, hence the high reading.

I managed to get a new CS-2 battery from an ebay store for $11 and changed shipped.

Wow what a difference. I don't know if my phone had been sitting int he store for a long time before I bought it, but the difference between this one after its first charge and what I remember from the old one is amazing. I can now go an heavily use my phone for the day and still have over 50% charge left when I get home.

One question though, many of the sellers were offering different batteries calling the newer generation Rim batteries (CS-2 was 2nd gen and they offered 3rd or 4th gen). I couldn't find anything stating they were actually verified to work on all models so I skipped for another CS-2.

Other batteries are for the 8800(CX2) and 8100(CM2). The 'generations' talk sounds like BS to me.
