I know it's kind of off topic, but thought I'd appeal to the photo community.

Anyone here know any wedding photographers in the bay area CA?

I'm on a budget and was hoping to get a decent deal $1000-$1200 for ~ 6 hours of coverage plus digital files.

If any of you have any recommendations or helpful hints on finding a photographer, please send me a pm.

Thanks!!

Sorry, no help from me. Did you hit any wedding expos yet?

Try hanging around the wedding sections of fredmiranda or potn. I was initially exposed to the guy I booked for my wedding next October on fredmiranda.

There is another forum that I don't remember the name of where people can go and find reviews of photographers and venders...

I'd like to try my hand at weddings (for free even)... LOL. Ok I'm 100% serious. I did a lot of reading on POTN forums, but even more seriously try POTN for a list of photographers.

It's a fun business to get into. I shot my first one last year, and I've got 6 booked already for this year. My first of this year is next weekend. :) POTN has been an invaluable tool.

how'd you start? did you start through other services or did you jump straight into weddings?

ive only shot a couple as a guest running around with my Rebel. I used primes back then but now that I have a 17-55 IS, I feel like I would be a lot better equipped now :D

What style of photography do you want?

The photographer for mine did it for $1000 for all day. I had to get my own permit to shoot at the Japanese Friendship Garden in San Jose, but that wasn't a problem. He is a very traditional style photographer - a lot of posed shots, but they still came out nice. If you wanted something photojournalist style, you won't really get that with him.
