Battletech

Lets hope they pull it off. The guys who made the Mechwarrior Online gave up on their turn based game (at least to my knowledge). They had a fairly well working alpha/beta but the way things were unlocked was card packs, with each card giving you either a weapon, component (heatsink, advanced electronics, etc.), mech chassis, pilot, or skill/bonus. You then used those cards to create your mech lance and fight it out.

I'd be interested in reading up on what happened to FASA. They had soo many good properties that practically vanished after them.

The fact that MechWarrior Tactics had done an even worse job than the MWO team at drawing mechs (they looked completely redesigned and in some cases barely resembled the originals) was bad enough... then they scrapped the game for reasons unknown.

This Battletech game... I don't know how to feel. MWO and MWT burned so badly that I'm tempted to just take my ball and go home with my MW2/3/4 and MC1/2 memories.

This is a game that will end up being created, relatively true to their vision. I don't think any backer should be worried about that. Will it be a pinnacle of the series? I have no clue.

This honestly seems like a safe slow-ball for their dev team.

For fans of the Battletech universe....I can't imagine why you wouldn't be excited about this.

HBS did a good job with Shadowrun Returns so I expect them to deliver on this too.

I had fun playing Crescent Hawk's Inception last century so I'll probably like this too. I don't know if I'll back it though since they don't need my money to make the single-player stretch goals.

I normally look at KS funding as patronage not preorders, so I'll probably wait for the final release.

I backed it. Hopefully they get enough to get to the mercenary campaign. That was always the most interesting aspect of the universe.

I sort of wish they weren't using the MWO art. Would have really preferred the more classic designs. No time based rewards for backing this one. I'll probably back it, but want to see where it goes before I commit.

I will probably back it. But I still feel burned from the last 2 mechwarrior games. The main good thing about this one is that it has the people who made Battletech and Mechwarrior in the first place involved, which was lacking in the previous games (and really shows it with respect to MWO in all the balancing issues they keep having to deal with).

That could of beena copyright issue. Some of the designs in battletech were licensed from manga stuff.

I like that they arent redesigning the wheel. Give us the game.

The Unseen? I thought most of MWO's redesign stuff was just to make it more "modern" (I was/am a fan of their work). Too bad it's a fracking P2W cash grab and they threw out a perfectly good core game/rules set for...whatever the hell they're using now :'(

I still want the original MW5 :'(

GOD MWO still makes me so upset.

Same. That being said, this team is awesome and I just game across my old TR3050, so...backed 😛

Hah, yesterday I wanted to post "3025 era is best era" but had to leave in a hurry. I'm still bitter with EA for canceling MPBT:3025.

Anyway, this should be great!

I also dislike how MWO turned out - just look at their front page, bah - nothing but money money money grabs. Hopefully this will be better. May back it next month.

I liked the clans, but agreed, think pre clans was even better.

Would still love to see a Starseige sequel (or even reboot) even more.

I LOVED Starsiege, I don't know why they abandoned it and concentrated only on Tribes. No one does manuals and backstory like they used to back then.
If anyone's feeling nostalgic - check out http://www.the-flet.com/dynamix/ss/. "Compendium" is, of course, the huge compendium they had to accompany the user's manual itself.

Favorite game growing up, first game I introduced my brother to. Even played a couple of years ago with him. Was a regular on the 2485 forums.

One of my few childhood games that was not tinted by rose colored glasses, the MP and SP really were that good.

Thanks. They were fun to make. Too bad Dynamix got closed down when vevendi decided to consolidate its offices to Seattle. I still think it was mostly because they didn't like having to visit the smaller studios. :\ Garage Games is where a lot of the people ended up including Jeff Trunnel, but it doesn't look like they are doing anything outside of torque anymore. I've kinda lost track of most of the folks from those days though.

3025 was the best tech era. All that clan shit was jumping the shark.

Yah. The biggest issue was the double HS. That straight up threw out one of the big balancing issues of the 3025 era. They should have made heat sinks in the engine single, or you would have to pay for the crit slots with a much more bulky engine. It would have severely limited the number of DHS you could take.

Whoa you need to expand on this statement a bit. What did you do there?
