So I recently saw all the Stargate episodes and wanted to watch battlestar now.

I bought the Blu-ray dvd set that seems to have every episode except the webisodes and the miniseries.

Can't find the webisodes anywhere but I can find the miniseries.

My question is for the best understanding of the show should I get the miniseries?

Thanks

Yes, the mini series is practically the first few episodes of the series so its important. The movies however are not that important.

The webisodes add a bit of depth and were worth watching, but in absolutely no way necessary to understand the plot of the show.

It's very important. I'm surprised it isn't in your blu-ray set though, Netflix has disc 1 of season 1 on blu-ray as the miniseries, that's where I rented it.

Yeah, your Blu-Ray set should come with the miniseries...mine did. The miniseries is a requirement to watch. It's the first 3 hours of the series.
