God this show pisses me off. I want to like it so bad, but these people are just insufferable. Instead of fighting the bad guys they just constantly bicker and fight among themselves. I like to think that in the future the human race could grow up just a little, at least when they are fighting for their lives as they are in this show.

The character that really gets to me is this traitor Dr. Gaius Baltar that talks to himself all day. If someone would just kill him already this show would be 10x better.

Does anyone else have similar complaints about this series? It's still the best/only science fiction show I have available but it could be so much less annoying. It would be so much more interesting if they spent more time developing the Psylon race and exploring the story behind all of that.

So far I have watched season 1 and a couple of episodes of season 2.

If the obvious and realistic drama bothers you that much, I am afraid you have failed to grasp the importance of certain details in the show. Stop watching now.

Someone is in for some serious disappoint when they finish the series. :D

Season 1 was awesome. Season 2 was almost as awesome. Season 3 pretty much blows. Season 4 was kind of okay. The last episode was good other than the very end.

Conclusion: If you don't like it now, you won't like what's to come.

Yeah, the entire show is basically a big downhill slope. Starts great (early on, I remember saying it was my favorite TV show of all time), but it peaks mid to late in the second season. After that it blows.

And yes, the amount of personal drama is pretty frustrating but the story is so great (again, early on) that it makes up for it. As the show continues, the story stops making any kind of sense and the personal drama gets cranked way up.

1 was awesome. First half of 2 and last 3 episodes of 2 were awesome(rest sucked). 3 was uneven but had a very strong first and final 4 episodes. First half of season 4 was absolutely brilliant. 2nd half was uneven but had some great episodes and some snoozers. Razer sucked, the plan was decent.

To be fair, this is largely SciFi/SyFy's fault for dicking the writers around.

Read about the budget process in the US or wander into P&N and you'll see that BSG accurately reflects how humans usually fail to work together in a crisis.

Baltar is a great character. He's deeply flawed, cowardly, petty and self-serving but not a cardboard villain. Consider the end of the miniseries, when he has a chance
to steal the old woman's golden ticket but chooses not to
.

That might be true, but it's not the only reason. RDM said multiple times that he was making things up as he went along and that he didn't know how he was going to resolve all the questions the show presented. They got story thread overload and couldn't tie everything up. Is it really SciFi's fault that the writers painted themselves into a corner? Were they the ones forcing the writers to continually open new plot threads and abandon the old ones instead of resolving them?

They may have threatened cancellation (I do remember the show cost a ton and that made it a target despite good ratings), but it's not the network's fault that the writers screwed up.

If you are so bothered by a story or the way people are behaving, it is a sign that you are interested and fustrated that they are not doing thnigs the way you would want them to.

Nobody is forcing you to watch. It is not like being tied down, Clockwork Orange style and forced to watch every episode of Three's Company.

Sometimes it is the show that makes you yell at the screen that is the best.

OTOH, I do that when my wife puts on Dancing with the Farm Animals or American Pagan Idol, so YMMV.

was thinking the same thing but figured I won't mention it.

I too wanted to just watch them blast cylons don't worry about all the other crap. I especially hated the personal issues with the president.

Sadly - the blasting cylons is the part of the show that costs the most $

Baltar is a great character. He is both easy to hate and understand at the same time.

Sometimes...you can sympathize with him. I'm approaching the final 10 or so episodes.

Caprica was about the beginnings of the Cylon race. It was far better than the Galactica remake but what show isn't.

The BSG remake was less about fighting for survival against the Cylons and more about some inner struggle for enlightenment bullshit. Even the robots were "discovering god". It kept you hanging around with the occasional battle but then it was 4 more episodes of stupid visions and of course the endless crying into the whiskey glass. All those people (and robots) ever did was cry.

If you are paying for these episodes, when you watch the ending you are going to be so pissed you'll feel like crying yourself. Maybe that's the point of the show!
