I plan on watching both John Carter AND Battleship, once they are available for free on Netflix streaming and I feel like killing a few hours.

Nothing wrong with a fun, mindless action movie.

John Carter actually wasn't that bad of a movie. I thought the only issues were that they expected you to ignore certain things in the movie. I had questions while watching it like, "what are these 'rays'?", and they never got answered. I really don't think people enjoy it when people talk about such obscure things, but never really explain anything about it. It makes for a frustrating movie experience.

Also, for about the first half hour of the movie, I had a hell of a time telling the bad guy humans from the good guy humans. It made a lot more sense when they simply said "red is bad, blue is good."

Oh, and
I thought the ending was awesome.

I dunno if there is a current thread for it but since its hitting the shelves, or has hit the shelves depending where you live, I thought I would give my review of it:

Pretty sure it hasn't hit the shelves yet given its release date is August 28. 😛

However, yaaaaar! Methinks ye be meanin' it be available on the high seas!

It was answered/presented as limitless power. The princess talked about it in her little speech to the peeps in charge as she demonstrated it. Of course the badguys had it and didn't want anyone else to have it.

It's kind of like a new version of Independence Day. It's just a shoot-em-up entertainment movie that will be shown on TNT 10000x in the coming years.

Battleship played Fortunate Son & Thunderstruck. All these alien movies play lets kick the alien ass song. So lame.

I'm surprised Will Smith didn't do a cameo and say "Welcome to Earth" with a cigar in his mouth.

If aliens ever come to Earth and they disable communications, the national grid, government and transportation for starters. We be in the dark and powerless. What's sad is that is would take them only a few hours at most to do that. Our entire infrastructure isn't exactly bullet proof.

Battleship
Taylor Kitsch
Alexander Skarsgard
Rihanna
Brooklyn Decker
Tadanobu Asano
Hamish Linklater
Peter MacNicol
Liam Neeson

Directed by a guy known for Hancock and Friday Night Lights.
Written by two guys who have never written anything of note.

Clue
Eileen Brennan
Tim Curry
Madeline Kahn
Christopher Lloyd
Michael McKean
Martin Mull

Directed by a guy known for My Cousin Vinny and Ferris Bueller.
Written by a guy known for Coming to America, Three Amigos, The Blues Brothers, Animal House, and An American Werewolf in London.

It's no wonder one was a successful boardgame movie and the other one stunk.

That reminds me, Clue is due out on Blu-Ray on Tuesday. So you guys may as well skip Battleship and just pick up Clue.😛

It is a cheesy pop-corn action flick with aliens...Are you really expecting deep plots and character development in this movie???...Special effects were good and I am going to buy it because it will look and sound awesome on my setup in my living room...I knew what to expect from this movie, set the bar pretty low and wasn't dissapointed..

This sums it up perfectly. It was a good movie for what it covered. The Navy against the aliens. I saw it and gave it a high rating. Also, there is very little bad language or 'R' rated scenes. A good family movie.

just saw it last night. not that bad of an action movie.
there are a lot of worse movie i can think of, like the last air bender.

Hmm I was interested until I saw that it costs $20. 😱

Although, it's cheaper at Best Buy by a few cents, and if you turn in an old DVD, you can save $5 (on any Blu-Ray over $9.99 actually).
