For the longest time, I had a terrible computer that wouldn't run anything beyond warcraft 2 LoL....now I have a nice computer and I go to play games...like thief3 Quake4 Star Wars Battlefront 2...ect ect...
the only game that worked out of the 3 is quake4....
thief3 has some bug where hyperthreading/dual core cpu's cause the intro movie to run constantly....you can fix this but you gotta screw around with .dll files in your windows system folder. which i refuse to do. so cannot play this game at all -.-;
Star Wars Battlefront2
this one has been the more frustrating of the 2. Because it always happens at a certain spot in the game. No its not the dvd scratched...I run it without the CD. (i did purchase the game...) Keysheek always crashes just before i win during the regular campaign. the game freezes the system doesnt respond and I literally have to turn the power off and reboot. I look up this game and there is a patch that states.... "fixes crashes caused by dual core cpu's / nvidia 6xxx and 7xxx cards." Im like...wow this is lovley..considering I have an AMD dual core cpu...and a 7800gt... They say apply this patch and they say install these nvidia drivers.. 84.20 beta drivers. I do both....Game crashes...I set affinity to 1 cpu...game crashes...I turn off cool n quiet....game crashes.... so patch+drivers+affinity = still buggy crashing game.
this is terrible because, i really enjoy this game.
Im posting this for 2 reasons....
1 Does anyone else notice this same thing happening?
2 Does anyone know of a fix besides the drivers recommended by lucas arts and their most uptodate patch available?
