Picked this up at the local BB for $29.99 - $5 Gamer Gift card. No bugs here at all. NForce2 Radeon 9700 Pro. Game runs smooth with all settings on high. No adjustments to ATI control panel, no updates, or editing of files. Played for almost 3 hours earlier.

Most new games that come out these days will have probs on some systems. Its just too hard to test every possible combo of equipment an drivers.

That bein said thanks for posting this. Going to pick up a copy now.

[Your logic doesn't add up, sorry. If the game was indeed buggy, it would affect most everyone playing. Quite the opposite is true, the most people have no issues playing it right out of the box myself included. Sorry to hear you're having issues, maybe you should look for a problem within your system.

It's well known in the BF community that an inordinate number of users have problems running this game smoothly, particularly those with ATI cards. I work in IS, so system problems are not new to me. In order to get this game running smoothly, I had to fiddle with default settings, (removing the "shadows" option helped the most) upgrade from 1/2 gb of PC2700 RAM to a full gb, and overclock my 9800 Pro, using a new Artic Cooling fan I found here for $10 (woo hoo!). I'm now getting frame rates in the 30-50 range consistently, depending on what's happening in the game.

In addition to the above, I have an XP2500 (normal clock speed); a SOYO Platinum Dragon Plus KT400; two WD 100 gb drives at RAID 0, where games are loaded, plus one WD 40 gb drive the OS sits on. Not state of the art, but not exactly a slouch. I do believe that this game has issues. I also believe EA and ATI will provide patches so it runs better on a variety of platforms - hopefully soon. In the mean time, if you elect to buy BFV, don't feel like you're alone if you have performance problems.

Just my $0.02

I had no trouble getting it to run, aside from the stupid thing not letting me switch to the ZoneAlarm popup to let it access the net. Only trouble I had was some lag but that was probably because I was downloading stuff on another computer on the network.

I have the game and had no problems getting it to run. After playing it for 2+ weeks, I'd say save your $30. It isn't worth it. The physics engine and graphics seem a bit outdated and remind me of the original Medal of Honor. Granted I only have a TI 4200, but it's a good enough card to get the gist. There's really nothing to make my head turn and say wow this is a great game. Multiplayer just sucks because of spawn kills and slow load times. You'll play for an hour and may have 15-20 minutes of that hour with actual gametime. It does have a good soundtrack and audio, but that's just not enough to outweigh the poor gameplay. It just isn't fun.

Bottom line - skip it.
