The best thing about CoD is that if there weren't a CoD most of those guys would be playing BF.

Untrue, I didn't like the CoD series at all before CoD 4. And honestly I don't like Black Ops much so I don't play it often. It's still better than BF to me personally.

there are maps in BC2 which the base spawn is so small someone could spawn camp and rape it. but then the movement is still more natural and the aiming much less gay than COD. also i like the fact that the bullets has range and does fall.

They could, if so many servers did not use the evil program that autokicks or deathtouches anyone who kills someone inside the base. Denying combat in an area of the map is bad enough but worst of all is that there are so many uncaps that are close to the cappable flags that you can snipe and probably even use your SMGs to fire on people 2 flags away, yet if they kill you back they get punished or kicked.

Bad Company 2

Well, I'll tell you the truth, when I first got BC2 my enjoyment of it was 3 on a scale of 1 to 10. However, due to the sad possibility that BF3 might be tainted by BC2, I've forced myself to play it lately, and it's more like 6 out of 10 now(that's nothing for DICE to be proud of though, a shooter should be at least an 8).

Let me put it another way - on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 being BF2 and 10 being BC2, before my recent massing of hours in BC2 I would have said BF3 needs to be no more than a 4 in BC2's direction. I'd go for a 5 now I guess. Wallhack 3d spotting has to go, recoil should not be autocompensated(low deviation plus nil recoil = lasers, relatively speaking), not being able to use the commo rose to spit out quick messages sucks bad, the stupid minimap and the full size map you can bring up don't coordinate so you got no clue what direction is what, I could go on.

I've played CoD and BF series pretty hard, and imo, CoD has a LOT more base rape ... it is so much easier in CoD.

Umm, totally disagree. Have you played BC2 lately? TONS of base rape

COD doesn't even have bases.....just random spawn around the maps, so not sure what would qualify as "base". Don't get me wrong, it certainly NEEDS it IMO.

Where are you guys playing that has base rape? EVERY server I have played on has an autokick/ban/deathtouch-punish for killing someone in an uncap.

In case none of you have come to this conclusion yet, the team was boosting. Everyone on the other team was dying on purpose. This doesn't happen in real games.

I like both series. It frustrates me to no end though that you can't run diagonally in BC2. In real life I could turn my head left and right while running to see what's going on beside me. In BC2 I'm forced to slow to walking speed if I want to look to the side since you can't run while holding a strafe key.

I'm sick of hearing the people in BC2 complain about base raping... The other day I was playing RUSH, on the ASSAULTING team and someone accused me of base raping because my squad was on a hill next to the objectives... How could someone accuse a squad of base raping when they are assaulting in rush? Its getting annoying...

People bitch about everything. People whine about spawn camping at times, even though the point is basically to capture the spawn points ><

It's just a matter of people getting upset when they lose. This type of whining has happened since the dawn of games. Any game really, it's just gotten worse with multiplayer video games because people have mics/keyboards and more people can cry about something silly. You hear all sorts of crap from sore losers about any kind of game.

Chess:
*3 move checkmate*
"That's so cheap man. Learn to play the game right"
Yeah... well it's easy to see coming and counter, but you didn't so suck it.

Counterstrike:
"you're a damn awp whore"
We both have guns and can move, if you didn't shoot me first that's your own problem.

Pogs:
"fuck you, that slammer is so heavy it'd flip anything over"
Its all about location and angle turd-burgler. The weight just means I can let gravity do more work than me.

Street Fighter 4:
" All you do is *insert move here* and it's so cheap! Learn to play scrub"
If all I did was one move, then you should be able to get through it as you know what's coming. If you can't get through it, then that just means you don't know what you're doing or I'm doing more than one thing.

The list goes on forever. Sore losers are the worst. There are SOME games where something is overpowered or spammed and it's annoying, but most of the time complains are just from babies. I used to get accused of hacking in CS during my day. One of my worse pet peeves...

It's quite a breath of fresh air to see some common sense once in a while. Funny because I've heard just about all of the examples you've listed there, with the exception of pog. My family was poor and they never got me any pog, thought it was a waste of money for a dumb game. 😛

Oh it was definitely a dumb game/fad. I was just having trouble coming up with common non-video game complaints.

Battleship:
"You can't put all your ships right next to each other, that's cheating"
It's not my fault that once you sunk my destroyer you thought nothing else was near it. It's called strategery. Now if I stacked my boats on top of each other... THAT would be cheating.

I like the one where if you lose, you're a noob, but if you win, you're also a noob.

I love spawn raping though!!😀

My theory is if you're not good enough to thwart my attacks and allow me to reach your spawn - then just practice more or suck it up and hope the rest of your team mans up... it's just a game and don't get scared of dying... I would sacrifice my kill/death ratio just to reach the spawn of any first person shooters game - I usually make it up by getting more kills when I reach their spawn... the more aggressive team or a team with at least 2 agressive team members almost always prevails...:sneaky:

If people cry and complain about it or call me a hacker I just ignore them - I take them all as compliments... if they can't handle FPS PC games they should just stick to pokemon, tetris and farmville games...

But buy going back to topic... yes I think MOH is better than COD - I still play MOH PC, I gave my COD to my friend after playing it for one day...

BINGO!!!

That crap drove me crazy. One of the reasons I ended up not buying Bad Company 2.

This is so stupid. That's why i like battlefield more. Has there ever been a COD game where spawn raping wasn't so prevalent?

Believe me - spawn raping has been a huge issue in BF games although they are getting better about it

no, in BF series you just get sniped or spawn camped by a tank as soon as you spawn.

Yep

I'm sick of hearing the people in BC2 complain about base raping...

I am just suprised. It is probably the hardest BF game to camp in. I think 2142 was the easiest. Some of the spawn locations were small enough that 4-5 people would have to spawn in a line in the same area and the spawn points never varried. A sniper rifle could go through 2-3 people with a headshot. Wait till they spawn. Fire. 2-3 kills. Wait till they spawn again. 2-3 kills. Since the location never varried you could leave your scope in the same, perfect spot for a headshot and just use one click every couple of seconds for 2-3 kills.

Oh and lord help you if you let your mech get captured as the attackers on Gibralter (jump in buggy - race into base - jump in waiting mech - rape other team) I racked up some insane K: D on that map if their mech got stolen (And no - it wasn't from the sniping method above. The mech is a powerfull beast when you have two of them and they don't have any/confined to a small open area)

That's a terrible situation, but the answer is not to combat that kind of thing in Battlefield 3 with rules, but for DICE to spread out the spawn points and make uncappable bases easier to defend, and then not allow servers to have uncap rules.

For example airfields are often protected by uncap rules, which allows jets to stat pad(what else can you call it when a player's risk is artifically decreased by rules, which is exactly what you are doing when you make the jet spawn unassailable?). Instead of allowing servers to make rules preventing the airfields from being attacked by ground forces, spread out the spawns so that it's difficult for a small group of enemies to cover all the spawn points. you could also invert the runways so that one jet spawns at one end of the airfield and the other spawns at the other, which, due to the size, would make it impossible for one or two spawn rapers to cover both at once.

And, to some extent, that's what they are doing. BC2 has some probably the most spread out spawn areas in any BF series so far so it seems to me that they are headed in the right direction. It is still easy to hit people coming out of the spawn area but the cases of insta-death on spawn seem to be waaaay down

It is true that BC2 uncaps are harder to pin down, but the proliferation of uncap rules and autokick programs is happening more than in BF2 - so they definitely have done nothing to prevent the rules.

Personally, because BC2 doesn't have jets that can rape your ass 3 times per minute anywhere on the map, I'm almost OK with this in BC2, because with no extremely overpowered vehicles being protected by uncaps, there is no need to attack them.

With that said, I do get upset though when on certain maps the enemy uncap is so close to a cappable flag that you can be on the flag itself or reasonably close and yet see the enemy very clearly, and he shoots at you, you shoot back and win and then get autokicked, warned, or deathtouched because he was in the uncap even though he was only like 80 yards away. That's bull.

BF by far. I prefer teamwork, larger numbers on the field and larger maps. CoD is a just a fragfest imho. It's nice once in a while but not for the whole game. In BF, strategy can make all of the difference. ie. In Sharqi Pennisuala, the MEC team sneaking past the US to capture the US Main and controlling the helicopter/tank while keeping their assets down.

It's great to have 10+ friends playing on the same side all on TS.

In regards to baserape/spawn camping, yeah I don't understand why people complain about it BC2 Rush, unless the team is so bad that they're not even able to get out of their initial uncap. Teams can become stacked easily. As an admin, I probably spend more time trying to balance teams than anything else.

I have never played either of these series, as they were both released after the time when I really played FPS games competitively. however, my roommate plays both often, and the games look very similar to me gameplay wise. Is there really a big difference between the two?
