Steer clear. The EA download system is CRAP. You need several different accounts, and even then it's hard as hell to redownload games. Don't believe me? Before buying the game, pretend it's 1 year from now and you want to redownload the game. Try to find it on the EA site.

Steam is the only way to go.

I dont know if you deliberately ignored the other posts that mentioned perfectly reasonable ways to back up the files or not. So I will pretend its 1 year from now. O wow look at this, i have my saved folder where the install files are. Wow, magic! And and i just need to logiin into my ONE account to play online? More magic!

Apparently you lack the magic needed to use EA's digital download system.

Yeah and I'm sure the account to play the game is separate from the EA Download account, which is separate from the universal EA account. God only knows what combination of the 3 you need.

Good luck with that backed up file. I can't get BF 2142 to install from my backup.

i also picked up BFBC2 after waffling over it all night.

ME2 downloaded super slow compared to BFBC2. no idea why.

already got ME2 all installed, patched, all dlc dl'd and installed, all install files moved to my external 1tb.

the download manager sucks like everyone's said. but really not a horrible experience imo.

I used the same account I created on xboxlive initially, to play the BC2 demo. All it took was for me to sign in during purchase and then after I had it installed I just signed in using the same account to play online. So i don't really see where you got this fear of using all these different accounts.

FYI: Anyone that purchased it with the hopes of giving the key to someone else but then realized it got added to their own EA account automagically...

Just got off a chat session with EA support. The only option they have is to remove the key and refund your purchase. They can not "unlink" the key from your account for use elsewhere. Hope this helps!

Buy game, write down CD key, bittorrent the game and burn to DVD

Problem solved

You can actually use the EA downloader, uninstall it after it downloads and run the setup.exe in the folder you set the program to download to. I have several games that I bought from there and don't require the EA downloader to work once you enter the key.

LOL...I was just able to preorder MoH for $32 with free shipping. Maybe there is a 2 game per day limit. hmmm...what else to get...

I've never had a single problem with Steam. I HAVE had many problems with EA's byzantine download system. Steam is the best thing to happen to PC gaming ever, and as a matter of fact PC gaming was on death's door until Steam saved it.

i ended up getting mass effect 2 + the pinnacle station DLC for ME1 which brought the total to over 39.95. might be worth the $5 to get the coupon code.

I was able to get Dragonage for 19.95 +tax by adding mass effect dlc.

i've had some problems with the game crashing at the end of rounds... but for $20 i'm not going to complain.

also getting to play ME2 with all the DLC other than costumes for $20 is pretty awesome.
