Anybody? When you buy this does it just give you a CD key? And can you input that CD key into steam so it will download it?

So apparently EA only lets you download games only for a year after purchase, wtf happens after that? Do they at least give you a CD/Serial key?
maybe I am blind but where does it say that on the site? I dont want to buy a game that I cant just dl whenever I want.

also is the single player worth 20 bucks because I am not really into multi?

You can't download it from steam.

You can download it from EA. It gives you the cd key right away and you can download it right away. I think you can also save the files it downloads so you don't have to re-download (but I'm not sure). You can also download a warez iso and type the cd key in there and active online (do not use cracks).

For the other question, the single player is short, but OK. The game is mostly about multiplayer.

Their checkout page seems to be kinda broken, the supposed "continue" button doesn't show up for paypal payment. You just have to click the general area where "add to card" button appears.

Thanks for the deal OP, I am glad I held out and didn't buy one off ebay 🙂

so can the initial EA store download actually be saved?

seems like it can be. Once ea downloader finished it just downloaded the setup files. Instead of installing it through ea's manager I went to the folder and did it that way and it worked so I am sure you can just burn the setup files to a dual layer disc and it work.

Then when your cd key gets stolen don't come crying on this forum. You can't really trust that.

To answer your question, no you don't buy this game for single player. That lasts like maybe 2-3 hours. That's really just thrown in there for kicks. This is a game you buy for online multiplayer. If you aren't going to do that then don't bother spending the money.

i think the single player is great, im sure with a few mods (they always throw out mods like more enemies etc) it will be even better, as far as 3 hours beating the game? i dunno i set it to hard and have prob played 2 hours not sure how far from the end i am but it really is pretty hard =P

also i dont think a warez copy of the game is going to magically eat your cd key that is wishful thinking,

I tried to enter the cd key into steam but that didnt work. I had to use the ea downloader. I want to be able to add the game to my steam list, or at least transfer my cdkey into their system so I can re-download whenever I want.

For anyone worried about this download thing, when it's done you will find a folder with all 5.4GB of files just like they would be on the DVD. In my case the folder was C:\ProgramData\EA Core\cache\EADM\{ email }\bfbc2_dd (where email is your EA login)
You can back up these files to a DVDR.

They give you a CD key, same as you get with the retail box. The key will be on the receipt after you make your purchase.

I wonder if thats new, I purchased BF 2142 through EA and downloaded it directly from them via the EA Download manager in 2007. Just redownloaded it and installed it in January, 2.5 years after I bough it originally.

I bought Crysis from the EA store and they had the same thing back then.

Thank you for your purchase. Your order is currently being processed. You will receive an email shortly confirming your purchase and including delivery information.

been a while and still no email... hrm...

Valve's Steam service won't let you download this game from their system unless you bought the game through steam. Hold on to your cd key and you should be ok, burn some files to disk, or download an iso, if you don't trust EA to keep the files available.

As others have said...there is no continue button. Just hit the add to cart button under the price and that will take you to the paypal screen so you can pay.

most people say the single player is 7 hours long which is fairly short.

I think that this code works on anything that's priced at $50 or above.. I'll check lower priced games to see if it works on them too.

:EDIT: Works on any game priced 39.95 or above. Will not work with two games priced 19.95. You can, however, add any game that is 39.95 or above to your cart and then add any other games to your cart and the discount will be applied to the total.

what I am confused about is that Dead Space 2 is listed for pre-order on PC when I thought they said a PC version wasnt planned. my luck if I use the coupon for Dead Space then the PC version will officially get pulled before launch and I would have wasted a $20 coupon for nothing.
