There have been a few dark periods in the past where games were a problem. Everytime its the developers fault not the fault of the PC. The difference is that Microsoft/Sony tests all games going out on the console so its harder for them to be released in a bad state, whereas on PC you get to release whatever you want in whatever state you want. Most of the time it goes well, occasionally it really messes up and its then searches for users with workarounds. But 95% of the time there is no need to do anything with a PC game but install, start and play.
