I made a video that shows the similarities: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZCkPpmEkiw8

Dice must have loved Modern Warfare 2 single player campaign.

After watching the full 12 minutes BF3 video I realized how similar it is to the beginning of Modern Warfare 2 ACT 1 mission "Team Player" where you enter a city in Afghanistan looking for hostiles.

For those of you who have Modern Warfare 2 try this:

1. Watch the BF3 12 minute video
2. Play the ACT 1 mission "Team Player".

Then you will see the similarities, a general/commander giving you orders, following squad leader, snipers and RPG on rooftops, your squad shouting about the situation, changing weapons depending on the situation, and on and on.

Personally it is ok by me because I loved Modern Warfare 2 single player and DICE must have looked how much money it made in 2009 when they were in process of developing BF3 so they copy many elements of that campaign.

Even the boxart is similar.

There might be visual similarities but they are meaningless until we get multiplayer details. Where is our commo rose? Will there be 3D wallhack spotting? Will there be herp derped 4 man squads with all-spawning or proper 6 man squads with a clear leader? etc. Those are what will decide if this is another COD clone.

Um, BF has been around longer. Has had a commander giving orders before. Has had fire teams before.

Its obvious you like CoD, go play it. It has nothing as far as multiplayer that BF has. Which is what most people want. You arent the first one to try this.

No, I think his point is he DOESN'T want this to be COD. BC2 is a definite CoD-ized type of game and there is great fear that a lot of BC2-ization(and therefore, COD-ization) will take place in BF3.

This is such a great thread.

Holy shit, they are both FPS depicting soldiers. There are allied A.I. soldiers. Hence, BF3 must've been a copy of CoD.

Troll more.

So what about the similarities? CoD sucks. So what does it matter? Battlefield is an actual good game. They arn't copying anyone.

Just watched the video, and they have no similarities. The video is a like a kid trying to make an argument that hes wrong about seem right. There is obviously nothing similar about them. And CoD looks TERRIBLE.

Oh boy. I can sense the forehead veins bulging on all the BF fanboys.

23/1 jet k/d ratio. Definitely a cry to the Battlefield gods for jet balance in BF3. Note that balance does not mean nerf jets back to stone age, it just means add some dedicated fighters so that jets actually fight each other for a change - or something like that.

noobs need to learn to shoot down jets .... balancing not needed.

So..the similiarities were a similar box art (I will give you this one :) ), both are in a modern setting, have squads, explosions, following your leader's orders, people shooting at you, squads communicating, and different weapons...

I guess Tales of Symphonia ripped off Final Fantasy V because they both have a main character, a fantasy setting, a party, monsters to fight, monsters fighting you, different equipment, and magic/skills.

Director of "Crimson Tide," Tony Scott, must have loved the movie "The Hunt For Red October."

After watching the first 30 minutes, I realized how similar it is to Red October.

They are both about nuclear submarines, captains of the subs yell orders, and the crew have guns.

Even the boxart is similar.
