I bought BF2 right after it came out in 2005. I have been playing off and on since then. It's just a phenomenal game with so much replay value I keep coming back to it years later. I know some people hate it and have had many, many problems with it. I never have though.

This was the game that made me upgrade to 2GB of ram in 2005. The load times were incredibly slow on my Athlon XP 3200+ PC with 512 MB; once I upgraded the load times were gone, no more HD swapping. The game ran well on my Radeon 9800 Pro 128.

Out of all the FPS games over the years I have gotten the most enjoyment out of BF2.

Yeah, me too. I so wish that they would work on an updated version of the game. I don't care if they touch the graphics or sound, as they are fine for me. What I want is revamped netcode and better hit detection. If they did that, I don't think any game could ever hold a candle to it for replay value (at least to me).

I've been playing this game for nearly 2 years. I play it daily. Graphics are a little dated and the maps need to be updated but it's still one of the best FPS game out there.

Wake Island is my favorite.

After going back to 1942, Battlefield 2 just didn't work for me. I think the original is still the best, IMO of course.

My wife bought this game for me in Feb. 2006 and I haven't put it down since! I think the graphics are fine, and hit detection has never bothered me. This was the game that took me away from Consoles, and I can't wait for BF3!

Awesome game. How is the player base these days, still a decent number of players playing? I'd consider getting back into it if I knew I wouldn't have a hard time finding a good pinging server that's populated.

The original had absolutely terrible infantry combat. I did prefer the human operated artillery, though. Forgotten Hope 2 has brought that back to BF2, thank god.

I still play this game daily, and do so with clanmates. I started late though, i believe December of 05 and barely got 1st Liet. The game never gave me issues and I could never understand why so many posters here hate the game so much. Well, I can probably answer my own question, they're newbs. But seriously, the game is great, graphics are still great and the strategy alone and teamplay is what keeps me going. Vehicles isn't my biggest thing and plane rape isn't my thing either. Infantry Only servers are awesome, especially in Special Forces. The game will probably never get old with me. In fact, I'm getting better and better increasing my kill:death ratio and accuracy. I've gone on some sick 20+ kills and 2-5 death runs... Its fun owning newbs and then having them cry and whine you are cheating, haha. Probably an forum member lol

I help run a clan, Last One Standing. Server's in Dallas, and gets good pings to most major places on both coasts (<50ms to me in the Bay Area). Check us out sometime, just search for =L1S=.

Note, we're not into TKing and general idiocy you see in a lot of pubs, expect to get banned in a hurry if you can't handle that.

Battlefield 2142 is like an alternate version of Battlefield 2, rather than a sequel.

I like Battlefield 2 better personally, the franchise is pretty darn fun, I wish playing with bots was a little easier to set-up since many times bots are good for practice or for checking out stuff, the unlocks system was brilliant.

Battlefield 2 is a good game indeed, much better than BF1942 (and that's not saying little for me believe me). However I prefer Forgotten Hope 2 over the vanilla BF2, simply because I think that it is overall better balanced and the game-play seems a little "faster" than in regular BF2. And let's not forget that BF2's actual development team is DICE, even though they were bought by EA, which explains a lot why it's actually not a bad game at all.

Well that may very well be true, I don't know. 2142 is the next game in the series after 2 is all I was getting at. It wasn't called 3 obviously, but neither is the next one. The newest one in development is called Battlefield: Bad Company, and has only been announced for "next gen consoles". I'm sure we'll get it on the PC, but I wonder if it's going to end up being another horrible port. ehhh...

I know for a fact that there is a BF3 in development and it's not Bad Company.

Ok, can you share your source then? I searched for Battlefield 3 and all I came up with were rumors and people mentioning Bad Company. I'm not trying to prove anything here, if there is a Battlefield 3 then i'd be very interested in reading more about it.

BF2 was an awsome game. I played it for quite awhile. I play LOTRO now which takes up pretty much all my gaming time.

Great game. I haven't played for a couple of months, but I definitely got my moneys worth with it.

I'm surprised nobody is slamming the game, it's not very popular around here.

There's Battlefield: Heroes exclusively on the PC. Its hardly a conventional battlefield game, though,.

I need to find my CD key and install it again. I loved flying the chopper and being anti-tank with the DAO shotty. When I had a good gunner, we could rock everyone!
