Get the heaviest one you can find. Stupid suction cups never stick for long, and the clamps don't fit on some desks. I have a Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold USB stick and I took it apart and filled the base with little plastic bags full of BB's.

I reckon an analog throttle and rudders are required to be the best that you can be. Helo's may make due with meeces but fixed-wings shan't. Besides the flight controls, its nice to have a bunch of buttons at yer finger tips for the weapons systems, maps, camera views, flares, eject, &c.
