Read my previous post, I listed the System Requirements.

Official system requirements and what you actually need for the game to be playable are two very very different things. We won't know what it really needs until a release version is available for testing and benchmarking.

I'm hoping it will be a great game. BF 1942 is my all-time favorite game and I played it almost every night for well over a year. BFV was mediocre and DC was great. Since DeLise and co were working on BF2, I'm optimistic that it will end up a lot more like DC and a lot less like BFV. On the other hand, EA has a pretty good track record of taking good developers and ruining them.

I would like to know your opinion of why you feel or think Desert Combat is so great or much greater than Battlefield Vietnam or Battlefield 1942. Please Explain your opinion in detail and don't just give an answer like "Because" or "It's Cool".

In other words what makes DC so great? My opinion is the Herd theroy. There are more players playing it so it's the "MOD" of choice. Just like sheep and Buffalo fowllowing the herd.

Man those new videos are sweet, i love the increased complexity and strategy ideas they are adding to the game. I will be getting this one on the day of release for sure!

People didn't herd to it for no reason.
People DID try BFV and it's mods.
BFV suffered from significant balance issues for several months after release. The first month was a joke with how powerful the M60 was. Even after they fixed that helicopters were tremendously overpowered AND relatively easy to fly. The whole game was all about the choppers.

I don't know how BFV is now, because I stopped playing it about 5-6 months after release. I was tired of them continuing to TRY to balance things with each successive patch and failing. They had several problems in the released game that were patched out of BF1942 months (over a year?) earlier, like grenade jumping on "FF off" servers.

BFV also had pretty horrendous performance for it's visuals. The area around the Ho Chih Minh temple area was a great fighting area, but it would lag the crap out of people for no reason, even people with very high end computers sporting plenty of RAM and the latest CPUs and video cards. People would specifically avoid it because they didn't want to be lagged. Couple that with the tremendously spiky nature of the FPS of BFV (I could get averages in the 60-80FPS range and still experience drops BELOW 20FPS at times) and you created a game that didn't look more than average that required incredible hardware to run really well.

To me, BF1942 and DC quite simply provided better balance and gameplay. At least compared to the versions of BFV that were out within a few months of release.

The area around the Ho Chi Minh Temple and Cambodia Incursion has been fixed. Now it rarely lagges out. The Biggest problem is when multiple aircraft are flying nearby the game does will show signs of lag.

I'm definitely going to need an upgrade, so whether or not I decide to spend that money will determine whether or not I buy BF2.

I'm not sure I can give a thorough explanation of why I didn't like BF:V. I guess one reason is just that it looked like crap on my system. You could blame that on my machine, but I also think it had a lot of performance issues that seemed to affect everyone. Aside from that, I just didn't like the look. Everything seemed kinda gloomy and dark. I didn't really like the maps or the vehicles. Especially the planes. Maybe that was a machine issue as well, but it seemed like with the jungle enviornment and the speed of the planes, by the time I spotted a target, I was already past it. That wasn't an issue in 1942 because the planes were slower. And it wasn't an issue in DC because the environment was more open and sparse so you could spot targets from a greater distance. Despite spending quite a few hours playing and trying to like it, I just never could get into it. I kept trying, but everytime, I would play for an hour, then go back to 1942 because it was so much more fun for me.

I have high hopes for BF2, but like I said, I'll need to upgrade. I just have to decide if I should get a new vid card or just buy an all new system. I built my current system, but with some of the deals Dell has, and the fact that I have credit there, I may just go that route.

There were some performance issues when a lot of action was taking place around the Ho Chi Minn/Cambodian Incursion temple. EA said they fixed the problem. But some others still persist.

The whole Battlefield fracnchise has always had some software issues and I remember how the original 1942 version 1.0 was riddled with bugs and would frequntly crash. Patches fixed many of the bugs but never completly solved all the problems.

I play both 1942 and vietnam. They both have their advantages and disadvantages. I realy like the ship artillary in 1942, but in vietnam the ability to shoot from the passangers seats is a nice touch and was something I dreamed of when playing 1942.
