In other words what makes DC so great? My opinion is the Herd theroy. There are more players playing it so it's the "MOD" of choice. Just like sheep and Buffalo fowllowing the herd.
People didn't herd to it for no reason.
People DID try BFV and it's mods.
BFV suffered from significant balance issues for several months after release. The first month was a joke with how powerful the M60 was. Even after they fixed that helicopters were tremendously overpowered AND relatively easy to fly. The whole game was all about the choppers.
I don't know how BFV is now, because I stopped playing it about 5-6 months after release. I was tired of them continuing to TRY to balance things with each successive patch and failing. They had several problems in the released game that were patched out of BF1942 months (over a year?) earlier, like grenade jumping on "FF off" servers.
BFV also had pretty horrendous performance for it's visuals. The area around the Ho Chih Minh temple area was a great fighting area, but it would lag the crap out of people for no reason, even people with very high end computers sporting plenty of RAM and the latest CPUs and video cards. People would specifically avoid it because they didn't want to be lagged. Couple that with the tremendously spiky nature of the FPS of BFV (I could get averages in the 60-80FPS range and still experience drops BELOW 20FPS at times) and you created a game that didn't look more than average that required incredible hardware to run really well.
To me, BF1942 and DC quite simply provided better balance and gameplay. At least compared to the versions of BFV that were out within a few months of release.
