So if the headset retails for 24.50 I could probably ebay it for around 17.00 leaving me with a 33.00 dollar game. Sounds sweet.

Vid card requirements anyone?

Requirements are mentioned in one the videos recently made available. I am dowloading now so can't tell you, however there is a beeg difference betwixt published requirements and what is actually needed for a nice experience. Prolly better to play older games maxed out than newer ones at low-res, low quality audio and video settings and sans AA/AF etc., dig?

Still says USB headset on the bottom of the page.

Because it is set in the present, not in WWII

Well it could have been called BF 2010 or such.

The EA dude in the video states it is due "in the Spring" which is of course northern hemisphere bigotry but confirms the March 21 date from the pre-order link and does coincide with the vernal equinox. ;)

The requirements mentioned:
1.5 GHz CPU
512MB RAM
128MB GeForce FX or equivalent or higher GPU

Hmmmmmm, good point about the hemisphere bigotry. I never thought of that but now I'll notice it every time. :))

The good news is that this game appears to be farther along than Duke Nukem Forever

The USB headset just digitizes the audio so your PC doesn't have to. A stand alone device to digitize the audio will help your PC work on the rest of the game. Your PC chooses its own microphone input. Whether you choose analog mic, which uses your PC to digitize, or a digitized input, you still have just an audio source as far as the game is concerned.

Correct me if I'm wrong here.

On most USB mic's the PC actually has to do some of the work that's normally handled on the sound card hardware. Using an analog mic on a good sound card should use less CPU resources but more PCI.

edit: missing quotes

Good point. I use onboard sound, and I believe that uses a lot more CPU than a PCI card would. A PCI sound card with analog mic input is essentially the same thing as USB headset, except you still need another sound device if you actually want to listen to your input. I guess its probably a toss up between which uses less resources though, USB or PCI, seeing as how all the prep work should already be done because it is being transmitted VOIP. Either way, at least the guy ranting about cup and string will shut up now.

PC has nuffing to do with it: a retard, or rather a differently-enabled-in-the-head person, is the same the world over while seasons are not. It's okay not to qualify every mention of "Spring" if you're speaking in local context, particularly as a farmer or meteorologist however when it is the representative of a multinational corporation discussing global product shipping dates it is advisable to be more specific. Thanks for the cookie. :D

Where's the multi-player demo for this? I wore out the MP demo for BF1942. If you played it, and got killed by the smiley face, that was me!
