AZN
my BF2 name is Gotchu,

I have no hard feelings about getting exploded by your bombs,
but truthfully it get's old really fast.

But I will keep trying to get you guys ,
one of the great things about BF2 is that evey game is unique.

It's the getting bombed over and over that is not.

Oh you are still a beginner at least your rank and stats or this is your practice account? I'm a colonel about to turn 2 star general...

Here's my practice account I've been using to hide my identity and for practicing on the f35b. I only fly f35b with this character.

I used to get killed a lot in first 400 hours of playing the game. You really need to learn the vehicles to pwn...

I was told by a BF2 know-it-all (DCON Mod coder), that back in the day you were invulnerable during the animation shown while proning or standing back up, and that was of course a big problem. It was fixed in a very early patch, but it's legend lives on... Now "dolphin diving" affords you no real advantage, so it is not really an issue to worry about.
Dolphin diving makes the hit boxes laggy so they don't match up with the model. This has never been fixed adequately (and this beta is supposedly still addressing the hitbox accuracy if you don't believe me) and *is* an issue to worry about.

The reason not very many people are vocal about it on the forums is that most skilled players left the game years ago for better mods. That's also why our stats are low, compared to air vehicle whores like AZN, but you won't see such chumps flying in DCon or PR where it takes a modicum of skill to not only fly, but also dogfight, well. It's pretty clear that the reason the devs never patched in handheld AA if you've been playing BF2 from release day.

BF2 shows the splash screen when I start it, then the screen goes black and it crashes back to the desktop. This is with Vista x64 and updated drivers, and it does this with the base version, 1.41, and 1.5 beta 2. What the hell is wrong with this?

Delete your Battlefield 2 folder in My Documents. It sounds like something in your profile settings is corrupted or incompatible.

Ehh I'll wait until the final version of the patch is released cus we all know with BF2 that even final releases are still Beta.

basically, I am still waiting 😛

So has widescreen supported now? I want to test my 27" for reals. 😀

edit: nvm, I see widescreen is included.

But Imma wait til the actual damn patch comes out. 🙁

So...how many beta's are they planning on...

I haven't re-installed this game since I was waiting for the final release...like everyone else it seems like

* UH-60 (Black Hawk) guns had 0.25 splash damage setting, down from 3 making it difficult to hit infantry. - Fixed (this is now set to 1.5 to improve the UH-60's usefulness while not allowing it to dominate)

/me goes to reinstall BF2.

The UH-60 never really bothered me. I'll reinstall the game if they balanced jets vs. infantry and vehicles. I did notice see some mention of AA targetting tweaks, so that might be good. Having AA that wouldn't lock until the jet was damn near in gun range was silly.

How is the Beta coming along? I'm still on 1.41.

Check out the bottom link in the original post for all the issues addressed. Some issues say they are fixed but not in beta 3, which I suppose means there will be a beta 4, too.

Interest in the patch waned significantly during the long beta 2 period. They officially confirmed that only one programmer is working on the patch, and that person changed after release of beta 2. Participation in beta testing is currently very low, only a handful of people are playing at any time.

I know I have not installed beta 3 since they said you should wipe everything and reinstall from scratch.

This can't be good for getting a clean, bug free final patch.

There's only one guy working on an official patch? That's pretty disgusting, it shows how much EA/Dice care about BF2 and the quality of their support for it. How can just one guy even if he knows what he's doing manage to do it, no wonder why it's taking so long before becoming a final patch. I hope he's being paid proportionally to the indecency of such working conditions.

It's a pretty old game at this point. Are they still selling it in any form? They don't make any money off the ongoing play, other than indirectly by keeping the community active for the next version. I think having even one guy working on it is surprising.

They still make money from all of the official servers that are still out there that folks still pay to rent.

I played Tampa Highway and tbh...as long as there were Intel ads everywhere, I lost interest.

That map is pure Armory. Nice map if your into that. Intel ads? who cares

Holy crap. Now I REALLY have to get a 24" widescreen when I get back. Probably the best "welcome back to the US" present DICE can give me.
