That new patch sucks. Now for each map type (BF42, RtR or SW) you need to insert the disk for it. Before you could just use the one disk, Road to Road and I was fine. I play it on a laptop so I don't have the disk space to go and create images of each of the disks, it's a real pain.
Take 10 seconds to install the no cd patch and don't worry about it.

Careful guys.
And yes, a no-cd crack is illegal.
It is a modified version of the .exe file, which you are prohibited from modifying by the EULA.
Besides, I haven't heard of people having much luck with those.
Personally, I don't even play RTR any more and don't plan on buying Secret Weapons.
So I've just got the original BF ISO mounted on a virutal drive using Alcohol 120%

Why, yes. Yes I am.

I am asking because I've found that if I google something like this, I get an old out of date patch.

Just like I got the old blood patch that doesn't work. Anyone know of a new blood patch that works?

Cracks work fine. I couldn't care less what the EULA "prohibits" me from doing. There is no GIAA that's going to sue 12-year old no-cd crack users.

You're a 12 year old crack user?

I don't own nor have I played this game yet. Is it strictly an online game or does it have a single player mode? I don't play online.

It does have single player, but it's essentially the same as multiplayer mode w/bots instead of real players. If you don't play online you probably won't like it.

I agree, while bots are dummer then dumb, the single player option is great for learning the maps and practicing driving/flying. It probably saved my from getting banned for sloppy flying, LOL! I am now an official AH-64 kickassmaster!

eh, no cd crack for online games is harmless since you need a real cd key to play. single player is a sorry substitute in team based games.

1) No CD patches tend to just F things up. I wouldn't use one unless you feel like un/re-installing.

2) The in-game browser uses gamespy and works perfectly fine IMO.

3) I've yet to find a good mod. DC is okay for about 5 minutes... then you'll realize it sucks.

Don't forget there is a demo of '42 Secret Weapons. It's pretty limited but gives you an idea of the game play.

You can play it both single player or on-line.

Why does it suck?
It doesnt. It is a blast. 90% of my BF time now is spent playing DC.

A better question would be what version did he play?
The early alpha's were buggy and unfinished.
Even though they are only on 0.4 now, it feels like a very polished and complete game.

I've tried all but the .39 and .40 versions (mainly because it was such a pain to get them, and I didn't care). Its just too fast paced, the cars and planes just drive too fast for the maps. You get in, and a few seconds later you're already across the map. The maps you play DC on, just weren't meant for such fast vehicles. I also find the low armor tank alarm extremely annoying, along with the "beep-boop" every time someone sends a message.

I'll take my regular BF1942 over DC any day of the week.

Depends on what maps you play.
Yeah, some of the smaller maps suck for DC.
El Alamein, Gazala and Bocage are great for DC.
Berlin is actually a lot of fun for some good DC combat. Or is it Stalingrad. One of them anyway.
It is definitely faster paced. But that is what a lot of people like about it.
And Lost Village and Basrah's Edge are great maps.

Eh, name your old executable .old before you NO CD it. Voila, name it back to patch. No big deal.

DC doesn't suck, it's more likely you suck that's the problem.
