Vote! Also, you can suggest more bands to compete in part 7. I want to keep it in the genre of Rock/Pop i.e. what is played on KROQ, because a lot of people know it, and it doesn't totally suck.

Anyway, I'll start part 7 after 50 votes or 24 hours, whichever comes first.

Winner of Part 1: The Smashing Pumkins beat Weezer
Winner of Part 2: Linkin Park beat Papa Roach
Winner of Part 3: Nirvana beat the Smashing Pumpkins
Winner of Part 4: Linkin Park beat the Sublime
Winner of Part 5: Nirvana beat the Jane's Addiction

We'll get back to Nirvana shortly... for now - back to the other side of our competition...

No offense, but if you honestly think Tool is inferior to Linkin Park you need to lay off the crack ;)

Argh. Notice that ended with a "." and not a "!". Here an edumaction (sic)

TOOL = Band that has been around quite awhile. Established. Deep fan base.

Linkin Park = New band of punk kids. One pop radio hit. One hit wonder. Ozzfest drop out. Wont' exist in 2003.

ps
I'm not a BIG Tool fan. I own the CD w/"Sober" on it...don't even remember the name of the CD. But I know they've been around for awhile. Big Rock/Metal/Grunge/etc fan.

Tool. And since your choices seem to lean heavily towards 90s grunge, how about throwing Counting Crows into one of the contests to offer a mix of styles ?

So, you obviously haven't listened to the whole Linkin Park cd, have you?

NIN did the music for Quake II didn't they? I loved that soundtrack and it was pretty good for playing the actual game! They have some really annoying songs, namely the ones played on the radio. Otherwise they are actually pretty good. Manson? I'd take NIN over Manson any day. "Beautiful People" and "Sweet Dreams" are the only tolerable ones IMO.

Tool - Linkin Park. Linkin Park = new, and people think they're pop crap. But, I disagree. I have their whole cd, and I like the radio ones, but like the ones NOT played on the radio even more. It's good stuff. Tool gets on my nerves, I have the radio to thank for that.

Weezer I prefer over the Pumpkins. I like 1-2 papa roach tunes, but Linkin Park crushes Roach IMO.

You thank the radio for getting tool on your nerves? The only possible song you can be talking about is schism... If you mean sober, than thats kinda sad, since I've heard it like once on the radio in the last 4 years

Tool wins this round.

Next round should be Godsmack vs. Sevendust or something :)

Yes, both are superb. But you can only play one in your car's CD player while speeding down a freeway without sounding like a total dipsh!t, hehe. ;)

As for these soundtracks, NIN did do Quake's. Both halves of Sonic Mayhem participated in the Quake 2 soundtrack, while the remaining half (after the split) worked on the Quake 3 soundtrack.

In regards to the original topic (*AHEM*), my vote must lie with Tool. They've been around for awhile and deserve respect. :)
