Battle field 2 error

i tried to start BF2. it gives me the ea game logo, and lficker once. it gives my the fuzzy computer thing thing and flickers to the desktop and back alot of time quickly. then ATI CONTROL PANEL gives me a error saying my driver not respond and reseted settings. i went back to BF2 and it gives me a black screen with music but does nothing. HELP!



Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2200+, ~1.9GHz

Hmmm.. Omega drivers. Try some drivers that have been WHQL'ed. I had omega dirvers on my laptop and Halo ran very jumpy and poorly. I switched back to some older drives (2003!) and Halo worked fine. Give that a shot

Mine were doing the same thing with my X800XL so I formatted & reinstalled everything & they worked like a dream. Not sure if it's related but I found one of my RAM sticks was giving Memtest errors a couple days later.

i fianlly made time to reformat my comp (wanted to do it anywho) and reinstalled bf2. now its worse. it simple shows black, and dies without error. it doesnt even show the EA logo.

I think some folks were running into trouble getting the game to start, if they had changed the refresh rate for DirectX to something other than the default 60 MHz.

i tried 70hz and 60hz

The game itself is mostly good, but most of the community makes it suck. It's hard to find a server with enough mature players to have a good time.

I know what you mean, In games, ppl are twice my age and they act more immaute thatn even me. zeesh,

It's a great game if you can find a good group of people to play with.

Have you tried the newest Catalyst? 5.9 was released less than a week ago and in the release notes it mentions fixing a BF2 problem similar but not quite the same as yours.
