There are plenty of threads on this.

Are you looking to purchase a card in a specific pricerange? If you do that we can give more specific recommendations.

If it's just 1 company in general vs another you really wont get any useful information.

Do a search.

or ask a SPECIFIC question.

it's like asking if Ford or GM is a better car manufacturer. :p

the companies produce "equal" products but have differing ways of reaching their goals.

Hi deveilvamp69 and Welcome to the Forums,

General questions such as which is better Intel or AMD, etc usually get locked because they result in little to no useful information and typical degenerate into nothing but flaming.

So, may suggest you edit your original post (and title) to include your specific question. If you dont have any ?s, and this a "poll" type post w/o a poll, well it's likely be locked soon.

The video section of these forums has alot of good threads debating the various pros and cons of the two makers. There are definite winners depending on the price point, performance point, and general needs of the user. Do a simple search in just the video forum and you will probably have more information that you are really looking for. Come back to this (or better yet the video forum) if you have specific questions but always make sure to search first.

And to take a simple stab at your question, I like both. I have owned many of each makers cards depending on my needs and what was the current price/performance champ at the time.

Yeah, basically. That's what I meant to say, but I figured I would speak the ATI vs nVidia language so he could easily understand.

This thread needs to be locked. Not because I have anything against you, OP, but because there is no right answer.

It depends on what time of games you like.
It depends on what your previous experiences have been.
Hell, a lot of the time it seems to depend on what day of the week this is.

They're both good. It's just that simple. Really.

[/thread], as far as I'm concerned.

Thank you that is really good feed back. What most people do relise is that I am new here and negative feed back is something that I can not work with.

FanATIcs will say ATI. Nvidiots will say Nvidia.

I built three systems and two have ATi but my latest has nVidia. Right now it's so close that it doesn't really matter who you go with. So what I would suggest is that you first look into your wallet and then determine what you want to spend. Then find one Nvidia video card at that pricepoint and one ATI card at that pricepoint and then compare them by reading spec sheets and head to head reviews and benchmarks to see which one is better. Buy the one with the better benchies/reviews. Not hard at all.

I like and have used both brands for years but I prefer ATI. Why? Because I have had less issues with games crapping out on ATI cards than I had with Nvidia. While I mostly play all the new games I still occasionally go back to play old games like Midtown Madness and such and Nvidia cards always didnt play nice with older games. Dont know if that still applies but I gave up on GeForce since the GF4 series didnt fix those issues. Started my ATI loving with the original Radeon 64DDR all the way up to my current 9800pro and never had serious graphical gliches (at least not as severe as with Nvidia). That doesnt mean I dont like nvidia, im actually planning on getting a 6600 GT for one of my systems, I just got comfortable with ATI.

This thread is turning out to be a lot like your first one.

That FIRST one is a eVGA GeForce 6800 Ultra 256MB GDDR3/PCI-E/TV-Out/Dual-DVI (Retail Box) for $493 shipped from Monarch.

Any, to the OP . . . . welcome . . . . you'll "catch on" if your hide is thick enough to "survive" the flames that consume so many n00bs here. :)

Hello Newb!
I certainly hope that when the mods ban you for a week you have a chance to learn about internet forums. We'll welcome you back with open arms.

And quit Monarch, they stink.
