I've heard that a 7200rpm drive will kill battery life, any thoughts on this in general?

I'm leaning towards the Dell D620.

you also have to take into account that your data will load faster meaning less usage of the HD, although I'm not sure how much battery juice that actually saves in the long run.

I've always been under the impression that a 7200 RPM drive will draw more power than a 5400 RPM drive, but the difference is so small that you won't notice.

On the other hand, 7200 RPM drives tend to run hotter than 5400 RPM drives.
