Battery experts; BOGUHT 8x1800mah GP's + Maha c204f charger

LATEST UPDATE

Just picked up the 8x1800mah GP's + Maha quick charger (and car adapter cord).
They've been charging for an hour, got ~1.5 hours left or so.
Can't wait to try them out 😀 😀 😀

UPDATE

Ok, I found a Torontonian seller that has the Maha c204f charger + 8 batteries for $50 inc shipping.

Now the choice in batteries:

1800mah Gold Peak
OR
1800mah Nexcell

The Nexcell's look cooler (silver), but are they better than the GP's?

Finally, I'm gonna get the car power cord for the charger. You never know 🙂

To anyone's that compared these batteries, please POST! 😀

/UPDATE

Alkaline's seem to last ~10pictures then my Kodak DC120 (1.3mp, OLD) says the batteries are dead. If they sit for a day, I can usually take another 5, then the same thing. After another day they can take another 5 or so.
At the motorcycle show in January, my dad bought 3 packs of cheapo 4 for $1 batteries that lasted all of 4 pics a pack.
Kodak ultralife and energizers seem to last around 15pics, then they do the same 5 pics at a time cycle, 3-4 times before finally dying.

So after getting extremely pissed, I wanna get some batteries that will LAST for at least 20-30pics straight, and obviously have to be rechargeable.

Size needed is AA, and I will need a charger as well.

I need opinions on these different sets I've found.

Parts Express - Varta charger + 4x ~1100mah AA's for $34(USD)

Future5h!t(BestBuy) - Panasonic kit with 4 AA's (unknown mah) $50(CAD)

eBay:
8 cell charger + 16x 1600mah AA's
Seems to be a SWEET price...but unknown quality, but seller does have tons of feedback....
4 cell "rapid charger" + 8x 1600mah cells

I'm kinda wary of the offbrand nature of the eBay stuff...but the seller is in Canada so that means I wouldn't have to worry about cross-border shipping.

LMK what you guys think.

get tehe NimH that are rated at 1600maH - 1800 maH~

Those last really long~..

I should know.. cuz i used them~ ....

The Nomad Jukebox comes with 8 1800maH NiMh betteries.. and those work really well~

Those 1100mah seem a little weak. I'd go for atleast 1400. And I'd also be very wary of getting NiMH from Ebay. My brother got some there that were supposed to be very good (1800mah), but they were already dead when he got them.

In any event, NiMH are a must with digicams. No matter what you decide, they'll definitely be alot better than the alkalines you were using.

joony, what about chargers? I dont wanna get a POS that dies after 5 uses...

isekii, what kind?

I saw some Energizer packs on eBay as well...seemed decently priced.

Yeah, find any old NiMHs that are 1400-1600mah and you will be VERY happy with the results. I'd estimate that you should get 35-50 pics out of a set.

Try RadioShack or K-mart/Wal-mart? (ok I have no idea what's in canada, but you get the gist) I think even Energizer and some of the other big battery brands are selling NiMHs now. I think you should be able to get 4 plus a charger for less than $30 USD.

I use Nexcell 1600maH that I bought from EBay~ and it's been working great~

I use this paired with my Maha Rapid NimH charger~ charges in a few hours.. fully~

I also use the ones that came with my Jukebox 1800mah~ but don't know what brand~

weeber, thanks for the headsup

joony, were they in a plastic pack, and is the charger a tall skinny one?

flot, there are a few energizer battery packs and chargers on eBay
I'm tempted to get the panasonic one from futureshop because it's close to me......
But i dunno if it has conditioning and auto shut off....

i use Rayovav fast charge NiHM.....and DAMN!!!! does my cam go through them....i have 2 sets...so one is always on the charger

I can vouch for the Quest brand showed on that thomasdistributing page - I bought a set of 4 quest batts (I think they were 1400 or 1500 mah then) and the charger about 3 .. no, 4 years ago - and they still work great.

BUT I'd swear I only paid about $25 for the 4 batteries and charger. But from the looks of it, these things have all gone up in price...?!?

The charger I got way-back-when didn't really appear to be anything high-tech either. Whatever, worked great until I lost it. hehee.

I have the rayovac 1600 NiMH batteries and it seems pretty crappy and weak. Since this brand is the only brand I've tried...are other brands comparable to Rayovacs are are they a lot better?

WA261, I think I'm defientely gonna go for 2-3 sets of batteries, maybe 4 :Q

BA, Isekki recommended the Maha 204f to me, I think I'd prefer a quick charger anyhow.

flot, I heard about the quest batteries...ppl said they were pretty decent.
LOL!

mind, I'll post whenever I get my stuff 🙂

I second the vote for the MAHA's (we use the 1500's). We use them in an Olympus 3030Z along with usage in walkabout radios. Initially their charges are weak, but the original set (rotate 4 sets of 4) has probably been recharged probably 40 times and keep on getting stronger; easily outlasts any non-rechargeable. Someone gave you a link to Thomas Distributing and that's where I've bought the batteries and charger. Hope this helps.

I found this one Canadian seller, Pro_Source on eBay, that has the maha c204f charger + 8 battery set inc. shipping for ~$50
I think that's all I'll need.

<< the difference between the two is marginal... you probably wouldn't notice a diff. >>

k I'll go with the silver nexcell's then 😀

Ross, I haven't bought yet, so you still have time to sway me either way 🙂

They're both 1800mah......
LMK which you think is better, if there's a difference
else I'm gonna go with the Nexcell's.

And I would consider that $40, but shipping + duty would kill me 🙁

Yeah I noticed that you're in Canada and so is the seller of those batteries.

I only recommend those auctions because SunnBattery.com has a good reputation.

The 1800 GP's might be worth it but I read a few reviews and they said is it really worth the extra $ for only 10 extra minutes? The 1800's are just too new for me to trust with my $200 digicam so I went with the "safer" 1600's which I consider "tried and true".

Yup, hehe 🙂

Please explain...."safer"?
My digicams only ~$75, but I dont want it to fry or anything.
LMK what you mean...
I want the batteries to last as long as possbile, so I would like 1800mah's........

<< I wasn't implying that the 1800 GP's aren't safe. I dunno maybe looking back I should have bought the 1800 GP's?

Read these UseNet posts which regard the 1800 GP's as a good buy.
>>

Oh k 🙂
Yup, they do.

I just got an email from pro source, and he said the GP's should be a bit better.
I guess I'll go with the GP's!

He also has a car adapter cord, and I might be able to pick them up to save shipping 😀
