Battery and AC adapter

I have a question regarding battery longevity...

I have a Fujitsu N5010 that I use with the AC adapter plugged in almost 100% of the time....this laptop is DTR and battery life with use is not much..maybe 1-2hrs..

So if I leave the battery attached(remove it leaves a big portion of the bottom missing) and the AC adapter plugged in for power will I shorten the battery life???

Will it shorten the battery life if I always plug in the AC adapter before first running out the battery?

Yes

Without knowing the type of battery, it's impossible to say for sure. However, 99% chance the answer is no. You can recharge lithium ion and nickel metal hydride batteries at any point without decreasing the battery life.

In fact, completely discharging a LI-Ion battery will dramatically decrease the life.
