They don't have B batteries for the people who stutter. How would you like it if a stutterer walked into your store and asks, "Can I please get some B-B-B-B-B-B-Batteries"? 🙂

Hey, why don't 9V batteries have a letter designation? That's just plain old battery discrimination!!! We need to call Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton about that!!! :laugh:

AAA batteries suck. Three AAAs contain the same energy as ONE AA, which takes up half the space. I wish flashlights, etc, would just use two AAs instead of three AAAs.

If you put them in series you get 3x the voltage, and 1/3 the mah. It comes out to the same number of watt/hours. They use them for flashlights because the new Luxeon 1w LEDs are set up to use 4.5v or so... That isn't a good reason though, because LEDs can be made for any voltage! Make a 1w LED that uses 1.5v, and you can power it with a single AA just as well as 3 AAAs while taking up less space and being easier to charge.

Regulation upconversion solves this problem. In that case the highest w/hr rating is the most desirable. 🙂

Last time I used C and D's were back in the 80's so I could blast music from my boombox. Damn, I feel old. 🙁

They've gotten the AAAs up to 1000mah, so not exactly 1/3 the power of an AA. You can still fit two AAs in the space of three AAAs though.

yeah, i noticed LED flashlights are 3 AAA batteries. it's short and fat (round), thus doesnt fit on my flashlight loop of my leatherman combo pouch 🙁

why dont they make standard 2 AA led maglites?
