Bats in chimney

We get quite a bit of the chirping right at dusk, but it really doesn't bother the wifey so I'm inclined to just leave them be.

The front is sealed so they can't get inside.

are you positive its bats?

you should really call an exterminator. bats can cause serious issues especially when they start bringing their friends over.

What serious issues? Loss of the mosquitoes he's been ranching in the clogged gutters?

We have a screen on top, so generally don't get this problem. But one year a bat managed to get through somehow. He made it all the way down to the insert so I just put on some work gloves and grabbed him, then tossed him out back. When my Dad gets critters in the chimney he puts a saucer of ammonia in the fireplace and shuts the doors. He claims they clear out pretty fast.

Yeah feces probably wouldn't be good.

However, bats are awesome. They eat a ton of mosquitoes. I might consider buying a couple of bat homes and putting them in nearby trees, and then chasing them out.
