Nicholson as Joker rules all. He played the quintesential villain to a tee in the first Batman. Keaton was awesome as well. They should have never bastardized the series like they did later on. Tim Burton should have maintained control of the director's seat for all of the films. If anyone understands darkness in film work, it's Tim Burton.
