No it wasn't. It was unplayable in DX11 on any system at all, and even the DX9 mode had some choppiness and freeze bugs.

I already know how he's going to reply. It will go something like this...

You cannot tell the difference between DX9 and DX11. It's pointless to run in DX11 mode. Run the game with DX9.

To which people will reply...

I can tell the difference between DX11 and DX9. I like the advanced features DX11 bring.

The all but certain reply...

The only thing you will notice is the worsening performance with DX11. Run the game in DX9. The game is perfect.

And so on and so forth.

So this is currently 30 bucks on Amazon (PC Version). Has that patch fixed it enough to make it worth buying today?

Also, if I buy it from Amazon is there a way for me to add it to Steam so that Steam handles the install/patches/etc.?

I actually like the retail DVD non-Steam version. I try to get physical media versions whenever possible.

Whatever boats your float.

I actually prefer the whole 'Let Steam take care of my patching, etc.'.

Of course, I went to to the Arkham forum and found this patch didn't help a lot of people.

Man, this game is so frigging awesome! I'm at the Museum, and it's amazing to see how much detail Rocksteady packed into this game.

And the PhysX is really cool in this game. The effects are much more varied than they were in Arkham Asylum.

I thought the Witcher 2 was my game of the year, but Arkham City has been even more enjoyable to play!

Yes it's worth buying. You need some decent hardware to run DX11 (arguably more powerful than you SHOULD need...) but it's still a very good game regardless. I don't regret paying full price as there's a lot of solid content here.

Steam is socially acceptable while Games For Windows Live and Ubisoft Uplay are not.

It's not so much about socially acceptable as it is that GFWL causes so many issues.

Buy batman, install game. Have to install windows live which required a reboot.

Ok. Finish reboot, start game, I don't have a GFWL account. Can't I just save offline? No.

Ok then; leave game, go to frustrating MS website and register account.

Go back into game, type in info, and am told I have to install a GFWL update which requires yet another reboot.

Alright.... literally 45 minutes in, I've rebooted twice, ran the game three times, and STILL wasn't yet able to play it.

GFWL is terrible, and it doesn't have a thing to do with social acceptance. It's sort of like best buy, really, where any time you deal with it be prepared for maximum frustration.

If someone buys a Steam only game without a Steam account they also have to register an account, install the client, and patch it.

Yeah, but I know this and that's why I buy steam games. My issues is buying a steam game where I've already jumped through these hoops and having to it again for NO REASON other than MS wanting some of steam's market share.

Yeah, I agree. Having GFWL on top of Steam is unnecessary. It would be nice if there was a separate Steam only version, but that's not how Microsoft operates. Could you imagine if Ubisoft developed a game for Microsoft and make it available on Steam? That would be the trifecta right there.

Green Man Gaming has Arkham City on sale today. I think it's 66% off, but I can't check at the moment.

I bought it via Steam on the Christmas week sale. Haven't d/l'd it from Steam yet though - hoping another patch comes out that ups the stability. Or a better video driver from Nvidia.

The one thing I don't get with GFWL, why can't it just update to the latest version? WTF is up with the incremental updates even if you're several versions behind?
