My Metro 2033, STALKER, AvP and Battleforge all run fine for me in DX11. Leaving me to think it's Dev problem. as long as they patch it that is cool, but in today's day and age of PC being second thought the last thing you can ever do is expect support.

You thought Metro 2033 ran fine? I thought it was an unoptimized mess in DX11. Framerate was 1/3 of what it is in DX10 mode and I could barely tell any noticeable difference. I'd take well done DX10 over the awful performance with DX11 any day.

SLI GTX 580's here and enabling DX11 makes the game a slideshow in some areas. No better on 6970 crossfire either.

Have you considered disabling SLI or Crossfire? I don't know about SLI, but I don't think AMD even has support for Arkham City yet, or at least I haven't seen anything in the patch notes. (Albeit, I don't look at the Crossfire stuff much)

I went to my local Target earlier this evening to pick up a few necessities and while browsing the electronics / video games I saw they had Batman : Arkham City for PC on the shelf.

It was $49.99 and they only had one copy left.

The supposed release date has been bumped to I believe 11/22/2011 now.

Does anyone think this game will unlock if purchased early?

This may or may not be a mistake by the retailer since the console releases have been out a few weeks now.

It tells me the PC version has probably been ready for a while, possibly at the same time as the consoles, but that they purposefully withhold it for sales / pirating reasons.

Why does it tell you they held it back on purpose?

DX11 is runs much faster than DX10 for the same features. The heavy tessellation is what killed framerate in Metro. Turn off tessellation and it runs much better.

Buggy as in how? Performance or actual corruption/glitches?
with DX11 features on, the gpu usage will go down in spots it should go up in making things gets real choppy. it will also pause a bit in spots too. even the audio is a little buggy in DX11. for the most part it does run just fine without DX11 features. gpu usage still does drop a bit in areas where physx is being used even in DX9 though.

DX11 issues seem to be impacting both AMD and Nvidia users alike so it makes you wonder what system they even tested DX11 on.

Yikes, I hope this doesn't make me regret not just buying the console version outright on release day. Mine's downloading from Steam now...

Is DX11 performance crap for both AMD and Nvidia or is this another Xfire/SLI mess from Skyrim?

[edit] Nevermind, got my answer. Just missed the post. This sucks, what gives? Two big releases back to back with serious issues? This and Skyrim have me bummed. Good thing SR3 plays pretty clean so far.

Game is fun as expected. I have some slowdown every once in a while when transitioning areas even in DX9 mode. I haven't had much issue during combat so it's not a big deal, though it is noticeable. On my machine on DX9 it should be smooth all the time.

Did you buy at a store or at Steam? I bought mine at Green Man Gaming and the download speed is all over the place...

I bought an Nvidia code from the for sale forum, and I havent downloaded it yet. I had to free up space before I can install all the games I got on sale recently. However, since I already registered that code, I'll give the GMG code as a Xmas gift or something.

I started playing Arkham Asylum last year and was enjoying the hell out of it, but I ended up quitting because (if i recall correctly), you could only save the game at checkpoints, and it was an automatic save anyway. I.e., if you don't complete a mission, you start from the beginning of that mission again.

Is there a fix for this, and is that the way Arkham City is?

I only played AA, but I never had the problem that you mentioned. The game would save very often (like every room), and if I quit it would always load up the last room I was in. It wouldn't restart the mission.

I didn't have this problem - just beat the game a few days ago. Saves were very frequent and always started me where I left off (I never quit until I saw the spinning save indicator finish up in the bottom right corner).

*DOH* I forgot I bought this already at green man gaming. Now I have two copies! lol Hope its good...

I forgot all about GMG too, with all the delay I might as wait until GOTY or something. Turns out, I already bought it; was a pleasant surprise when I received my key on the 22nd.

It's a similar system for AC, but they may be more frequent... I can't remember. Right now it seems to be saving at multiple times during a mission, as well as every time you enter a building, and collect a riddler clue, and upgrade something, and change a setting. Basically if you do something worth saving it seems to save automatically anyway. If you're picking fights in the streets is all and you want to save, then it's easy enough to walk into a building or something just to save it. It's not like you'd lose much XP anyway.

I feel like I'm the only one playing it! Where are you people? This game is awesome aside from the performance issues. I'm actually having a much tougher time with it than the last one, and I like it. You have to be much more careful around gun toting or knife wielding enemies which I like. It requires a lot more timing and stealth which to me feels more like batman is supposed to be played as, where the last game sometimes felt like not much more than a button masher.

its a great game and in DX9 there are no real problems with the game other than cut scenes looking a little stuttery. I did have 2 crashes in the 19 hours I have played so far though. the game has a lot of content too because I am not even past 40%. heck it will take several hours just to get all the trophies that are left.

It's a little game called Skyrim - plus I'm waiting for the dx 11 fix...
