I have a vet fan in the bathroom and it's started to make some really annoying squeaking noises is there any way I can lubricate it?

Cleaning and lubrication would be a start. Otherwise replacement might be in order if the fan bearings are too worn.

I once found a baby mouse trapped in the bathroom vent. Just sayin'

I once went to my nephews apartment and checked the central air vent. When I lowered the trap door, out popped the skeletonized remains of a dead rat on top of the filter. It was at that point I realized where madness came from.

Give it a shot of lube and clean the blades if dirty. Check them for breaks/cracks too.

Is it pretty straightforward to take one apart? Do i need to turn off the power first or can i just turn off the light switch?

Anyone else likely to come in? Just turn the switch off if you're by yourself otherwise, turn the breaker off.

It's a fan motor, not really a high tech gizmo.

The fan motor will have a plug on the end of a short jumper cord, unless it's very old. Unplug it, remove the one screw that holds the fan motor in the can, and service it. If it's shot, and not too old, you might be able to buy a replacement fan. If not, you'll have to replace the entire unit.

Check it carefully. The firemen I talked to last week said that an awful lot of house fires start with bathroom fans.
