I clean my bathrooms a few times a week...but the main bathroom always has a bad smell to it...especially it if doesnt get used for a few days...anyone have any idea what I do to make it smell better? I already have a plug in thing in there and keep the fan going...but it always smells bad...I think I need to put something down the drain to make it smell good...any ideas?

I would say proper ventilation (to get fresh air in) is important.

Where do you think the smell is coming from?

Yeah, clean the drain and bleach (or otherwise disinfect) the floor to kill bacteria.
EDIT:
wait, like around the bowl or inside the toilet it smells? Maybe a bad wax seal to the plumbing.

clean your drains with bleach, poor bleach in the water tank of your toilet (not the bowl), and use a saturated amount of lysol on the floor (especially around the bottom of the toilet). Make sure that you have no water damage below your sink, around the toilet, and around the shower because that could be causing the smell.

What about trying one of those pucks that you hang on the side of the rim?

Those puck things suck.. if the water doesnt hit them (our toilet it doesnt) then the are no use.

Its from the bacteria buildup.

Take a cue from Jerboy and run a UV light over the entire bathroom to look for urine stains..

my apartment was built in 1972 AFAIK...and the toilet was resealed last year...I know it coming from the drain....I plan on buying some straight bleach and anything else toxic I can find to dump down that stinky thing
