"Bath Salts" are a way to get high?

Geez, I had no idea. First thing I thought was literally something you put in your bath to soften or fragrance your skin. Apparently there are companies making chemicals which mimic cocaine and sell them under the name of "bath salts". This stuff seems to be very dangerous. There is no regulation or oversight which has resulted in children overdosing. Maybe this is old news to you guys but not to me.

The video is disturbing. Many people affected by this. Really sad.

It's much the same as when so many people were drinking Isopropyl alcohol and such back durring the days of alcohol prohibition.

I think there are a number of folks here who don't understand that "bath salts" is a name like Ecstasy, no relation to epsom salts.

Drug users are stupid :)

Many are. Drugs, however, are have been and still are used by some spiritually seeking cultures to open the door between worlds. Humanity is asleep and can awaken. Drugs are useful for those who are adept in such things, to transport folk into another state. There may be nothing of any usefulness in a drug state, but it opens the mind to a potential realization that what folk call normal consciousness is just one state of many. The mind that begins to entertain the notion that ones state determines ones reality begins a potential journey seeking a state that satisfies the yearnings of the heart and soul for perfection.

I have said many times there is only Love. The question becomes what state does one need to be in to see it. And if there is a state in which there is only love, what else would you wish for? What greater joy could there be?

Of course, if you have forgotten your childhood or never laid on the grass and watched the clouds then, it is rather likely that whatever state you are in from moment to moment, it feels like the only one there is and everything I just said would be totally meaningless. Do you remember when everything was perfect?

Bath salts are physiologically more harmful than cocaine.

Pure cocaine actually isn't physiologically harmful at all. It's just addicting.

There is so much ignorance about drugs... people tend to lump them all into the same category. Meth, JWH-018 mixtures, ecstasy, bath salts, alcohol, certain pharmaceuticals, et. al., are actually acutely harmful to your health. Pure uppers/downers like cocaine and heroin don't cause any physiological harm, but are both psychologically a physically addictive, though when used in the way used by an addict, can have secondary physiological harms.

Then there are the psychedelic kind of drugs like cannabis, LSD, mushrooms, DMT, mescaline, et. al., which are neither physiologically harmful nor addicting, and are actually very interesting and can lead to profound, beautiful states of consciousness and creativity. I encourage everybody to read actual experience reports written by people who have done psychedelics, in order to see that hallucinating on psychedelics isn't just seeing pink elephants and being retarded. If anything, psychedelic use increases awareness and intelligence.

Bolded 1) Sig-worthy

Bolded 2) I do, vividly. And have been trying ever since to get back there. Maybe I'm driving down the wrong interstate?

If God didn't want us to get high he wouldn't have made the brain capable of it....

Or he's/she's not infallible...

Or maybe he was just high...

That's only true if you assume anything is possible. Humans are more like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kse0MG5n9wI

Animals and plants are constructed using things that are readily available in large quantities, like lego blocks. Pieces from one plant or animal can fit into another plant or animal and still have some function. Humans are what you get when you give the design specs for an angel to a Chinese engineer.

Oh piffle, this blows my miniscule mind, that I can get high on bath salts. Who would have ever thunk it. As once again Lemon law the impatient is left out of social trends. Say, do they have a shower version for me?

As every time about this time of year, every thing goes dry, nothing to be found to make us high, and now a short trip to Beds and Beyond will solve all our problems. Isn't increasing technology innovation great?

Eat your heart out Henry, now we can simply take a bath. And be clean and high at the same time.

Us flower children have come a long way baby, no longer must we be called dirty hippies.

I bought some CVS brand original flavor bath salt and soaked in a tube for about half an hour. Came out with my mind fresh as a whistle. Must be some fancy flavored bath salt they're talking about.

Its just labled bath salts, like labling opium as incence, these kinds are made for highs, not to soak in, just labeled inhopes to avoid scrutiny i guess.
Ivory wave..etc has been a recreational drug for a long time...not the same as real bath salt

LOL at one of the comments in the story:
I've been doing epsom salts since I turned 55. It started slowly, I built up a restiance to it and before long I was taking 4 baths a day. I found out later it was just a stepping stone to worse things like whistling show tunes and thinking Obama really wasnt the anti-christ. If it can do it to me folks, it can do it to you. Just say no to dope.

In small amounts they are not exactly harmful, its just that most people dont know when to stop and end up taking to much. The latter is what leads to the [admittedly rare] cases of people thinking they can "fly" and jumping off 5+ story buildings. Or the more common cases of a jacked up asshole trying to kill someone since he is hallucinating bad images.

I can tell you have no idea what you are talking about. It's like GW talking about the internets.

Funny Bill Hicks joke,

"Always that same LSD story, you've all seen it. "Young man on acid, thought he could fly, jumped out of a building. What a tragedy." What a dick! Fuck him, he’s an idiot. If he thought he could fly, why didn’t he take off on the ground first? "

Seriously, if people tried to kill each other when they took hallucinogens Burning Man would just be one big slaughterfest.

Also, can we clone Bill Hicks yet? We need that guy back.
