as long as got decent acoustics, I doubt that reduces the home value, as many people are gonna find it 'cool', and others are just gonna love the fact that its a home theater. Then there will be people who just don't care and tear down the room (assuming the equipment is taken) and make a new room. So for those later folk, yes, the value was reduced, but I think people who would also use it as a home theater might be indifferent, while some might hate the cave theme for aesthetic reasons.

I do wonder about the acoustics though...

Anyone with a wife will be less interested that if it was a more "traditional" theater. WAF is low on the bat cave concept...

I can't say for sure but I think my wife would think it was cool. Regardless, we have an agreement that the home theater (actually, pretty much the whole basement) is mine.

edit: Maybe I'm crazy but I'd say if the wife enjoys movies that she would like the bat cave theater and if she didn't enjoy movies she wouldn't spend any time in there. I can see WAF being a problem in the living room or something but in a purpose built room, there shouldn't be an issue.

That is awesome, how on earth would that reduce value on a house? Shit I'd be way more interested if I knew there was a batcave theater.

I doubt Kanye West is too worried about that.

It's not his home. Just from his blog, he posts tons of crazy shit on there...albeit his home is fvcking designed a little nutty.

Plaster isn't going to reduce a home like this.

Most of the time a house housing a theatre like this would be gutted / majorly changed with owners, if not by the same owner each year.

Down here property really sets the value of a home...I have a relative that's in construction and literally takes a million dollar+ home each year and knocks it down then rebuilds. A lot of it is to show current construction / interior design technics...however; some of his neighbor's do the same thing and they are paying top dollar for it.

You'd be surprised. Many of these people have more money than brains. They hire the wrong people for the job and usually pay more than they would have with the right people.

Not commenting on this install though...just generally. Also people should be able to not know anything about what they want and trust the installer to deliver. Unfortunately, at least in the US; the installer is looking at the dollar for the job before the delivery.

No kidding. WAF is one thing if its concerning the living room or bed room, but the fucking theater? A line has to be drawn.

It's retarded to incorporate the worst features of an actual theater in the home. Chairs are bad enough... is there sticky soda and gum on the floor as well? Perhaps an ambience soundtrack of random mobile phones and people talking? Stink maker?
