Is it bastardly to ask out a girl even though you really aren't that interested in her, just to fill in your social life?

There's this girl that flirts with me fairly often, and she is kind of cute, but I don't feel drawn to her like I do with the few girls that I do like.

Well, I've never dated a red head before, I guess now is as good a time as any?

why not? just as long as you don't lead her on and let it progress further then you would want...if it does then just let her know.

i see nothing wrong with it. you both have something you want. whats wrong in fullfilling that desire. just get what you want (this applies to her as well) and move on, if she wants more, then you are in a different situation.

Good point, but I've never really had a reversal like that. I guess in the past I could afford to be rather picky, but as an engineering student now, the dating pool just isn't the same anymore. 😉 Oh well, first time for everything I suppose.

I dunno, I personally think it's a horrible thing to do, from my female point of view. But then I could be called "different" in my dating views, at least for me dating isn't something that's casual. I won't go out on a date unless I know that a relationship will come of it.

But then I've only had 2 relationships (two dates, two boyfriends) and I'm 20...but two relationships where there was mutual love, and I've been VERY happy about my love life.

Though I don't think I've been asked out more than 6-7 times, because I don't consider myself too attractive and I'm very shy and quiet around people I don't know.

Seriously though, there's nothing wrong with taking her out and having a good time as long as you don't promise (or seem to promise) more than you're willing to deliver. Don't try and string her along, as imho most people are more perceptive than you give them credit for, but by the same token don't leave her alone just because you're not completely into it. How many times have ppl here had a thing for someone else who wasn't "really interested in them"? Wouldn't you wan't him/her to at least give you a chance?
