Been looking for a used bike.
Found a 2005 Kawasaki at a dealer in great shape for a good price.
Go there at 3:30, won't let me test ride it unless I provide proof of mc insurance.
Call ins. co, have ins. co fax document.
While waiting for fax to ring, someone buys bike.

Wait, a bike dealer that wouldn't let you ride without proof of insurance? What kind of whitebread yuppified bike shop is this? I've never been asked for proof of insurance when test riding a bike. Not once in thirty years.

Maybe the shop reads his posts here and knows how cranky he can be?

It's possible that I might be gay. I've started looking at Sportsters.

I want a Japanese bike but they try to make them look like Harleys. If I buy a Japanese bike that looks like a Harley, they'll make fun of me. If I buy a Sportster, they'll make fun of me.
If I post about it on ATOT...

I've test ridden a couple Ducati Monsters and a Yamaha FZ6 at 3 different dealerships in CA without ever being asked to provide proof of insurance. I did sign a financial waiver for the bike when I demo'd a brand new Ducati but another dealer let me ride a used S4R without checking anything...the FZ6 was also used.

Yeah surely you would be covered under their policy?

The store doesn't don't cover anyone. Kawasaki will cover people on new bikes but not used.
If this store has a used bike on consignment, they don't allow test rides at all.
