Sounds like it is not just explosives:

"20 tons of explosives, TNT, mortar shells, rockets and artillery shells, al-Badran said."

Still a lot of boom stuff.

20 tons of explosives. That would be a lot of dead people, thank god they caught it.

Now, within Iraq, where does one get a hold of 20 tons of explosives, or does it come from outside of Iraq?

I find it very significant that the Iraqi police accomplished this in light of everything our press would
lead us to believe.
I say well done..

I seriously hope not, that would be extremely bad practice to leave explosives, rounds and guns behind.

Producing 20 tons of explosives takes a shitload of stuff.

Good thing they are doing it now as the Iraqis aren't going to have any own law enforcement after the handover, and now safety troops either.

Oh, you are saying those Iraqi police officers are commanded by Americans, oh well, at least their nationality is Iraqi.

Really quite easy to imagine. There was a huge convential Iraqi military plus the Republican Guard that had to have tons and tons of ordnance that they didn't do much with while they were busy ripping off their uniforms and not dying needlessly for Hussein.

Hussein, hmmmm. Don't hear much from/about him these days. If anyone happens to hear from him, ask him, "How's the food?"

I seriously doubt it, having been in similar situations i know that locking down and distributing explosives are standard procedure, especially larger ammo storages, i think it comes from outside of Iraq which means that border patrols aren't doing something right.

Hussein has served his purpose, however, having heard a lot of things about it, a public trial should be real interesting.

Acually...the coalition forces failed to secure some buildings (Had arms and $hit, even rockets...). which resulted in people being able to just walk in and take weapons and just walk out...There were reports about it awhile back. Don't remember when exactly, but there should still be an url out there somewere with the report(s). I remember asking myself "Wtf are these people doing? I thought securing ammo storages was high on the priority list" But then I read the reports...

Perhaps if you would read the op link instead of randomly posting your rhetoric, you could contribute something useful to this thread. As it is, your post defines you...Now, run along to,, what country are you from?

Back on topic...there's been plenty of stuff in the news about Saddam spread around weapons stockpiles all over the place.

Imagine what would happen if the entire US military went home one day leaving all facillities unguarded.

Now you see where they get the ordinance?

Exactly...which is why desolving the entire army and the government was a mistake. As I said in the other thread (the one about the baath party memeber being allowed back) you can't just remove the entire government and army without $hit like this happening. Some one has to make sure things are kept running and buildings are being guarded. They could just as easily have setup a process of weeding out the known Saddam loyalits (theres no way of making sure ALL Saddam loyalits are removed even if you do remove the entire government since they'll just find ways back in). I feel they went a little overboard with this "Starting over from scratch" thing. This is the real world, it doesn't work.

You got any credible links for that info? It sounds like a pretty unlikely scenario that coalition forces would leave behind this amount of mortars and tnt. These are no small 7.62's.

And they got 20 TONS of explosives ONLY from areas controlled by the Brits, right? LOL

Man, you are hilarious!
