Why are they losing? (Poor shooting? Lack of defense? No rebounding? Or is Aregentina having a great game?)

Honestly, the big issue is the international game is A LOT different than the NBA game. The US is the superior team every game but even watching these international games, the officiating is terrible and the way the game is played is a lot different

Duncan is a perfect example. Simple thing like arm bars in the post are giving him cheap fouls and he can't play at all cuz of foul trouble.

Another big different is charges. The international teams try to take them all the time like the college game in the US. The NBA game prevents charges underneath with the circle so our guys are trying to block every shot.

They must really suck to lose to a team like Argentina

Argentina is actually one of the best teams in the world. I'm not all that surprised given some of the poor results we had earlier in the tournament.

Gotta agree with you there... officiating sucks ballz, period.

Poor shooting is one of the reasons... they have no pure shooters, 2 pt OR 3 pt. Too many slashers..

Compared to the Pistons or the Lakers (well the Lakers of last year)? I seriously doubt it!

I agree with what you said in the big picture, but I was referring to this game in particular. I was just wondering if the US was having a poor shooting game or if their defense was getting shredded.

I think the US screwed up by making a marketable, but uncompetitive team. NBA failures turned Euroleague superstars (Scoonie Penn, Trajan Langdon, et al) would be better suited for sending to the Olympics than Carmello  or Marbury :thumbsdown::thumbsdown:

Probably. But you can't really compare a pro team that trains together for most of the year to a national team that gets together a few weeks each year. I would be interested, however, to see how the Pistons played against the best pro team from Argentina, Spain, or Italy, for example. That would be cool, similar to the way it is done in soccer.
