As an added note the Spurs play teamball? Then why are they in the bottom half of assists and teams like the Suns, Nuggets and Warriors are all in the top 10?

Lately, the outside shooters haven't been hitting - so assists are down. Also, they're a pass first offense - so of course assists will be low. Either way, they have the championship - those other teams? Nothing.

I didn't say squat about the championship. You're the one that brought up Spurs playing "Team ball"

FYI the Spurs were also below the other teams mentioned last year too:

Yeah ... the Spurs would be up there except they don't run their asses off every game all game. The Suns, for example, score almost 13 more points a game, and hence have a lot more opportunities for assists.

Note that although I like both the NBA and college, I can appreciate the NBA game, especially watching teams like SA, Detroit and increasingly the Hornets play. It isn't all 1-on-1 ... I hate players like Tracy McGrady being on isolations all the time. Generally college games feature little of that, but they do feature a lot of 3-pt chucks that are ill-advised.

All in all ... any form of basketball (save the WNBA) is OK by me :)

At least at the collegiate level, the schools have to play AS A TEAM instead of just throwing it to one or two "superstars" every single freaking play. I like to watch team sports, not show boaters. NCAA Basketball FTW

I hate the NBA. Thhe super stars get all the calls and no names practically hvae to get punched in the face toget a call

the NBA is the worst sport to watch ever. give me college ball anytime.

IMO there are more calls in college bball than in the NBA. And i'll watch iverson play anyday ;)

there are more calls, but more balanced (most of the time, unless it's your team playing :p).
it's more physical too.

I just think that NCAA is way too fast, with people just throwing up shots ... there's guards out there who average half the score of their team!

Since I'm a Spurs fan, I guess I'm spoiled that they actually play team BB, unlike a lot of others ... the Pistons, Magic and Trailblazers all play team ball too - I think they put in so much strategy instead of running like the Suns, Nuggets and Warriors do ...

I actually think the NCAA is tooooo slow (35 sec shot clock??!?!) NBA players are obviously more skilled than college players and there's more parity in the NBA. Just look at the division leaders in the NBA right now. As for entertainment value, I enjoy March Madness more than the NBA playoffs. NBA playoffs need to go back to having 5 game series in the 1st round. Did I just contradict myself?

probably attributed to their slower pace of play. don't have as many possessions, hence less FGA, Assists.

Refs sometimes don't call even if players get punched in the face.

 NBA is a great sport to watch.

NFL and then MLB > NBA

that's my opinion. doesn't have to be yours. ;)

Ugh, can't watch MLB. It goes something like this:

Camera on the pitcher. It then zooms on the third base. Then on the base. Then to outfielder. Repeat 2 more times.

Pitcher pitches the ball. Ball/strike. Zoom on first base. Zoom on the fans. Zoom on second base. Repeat 3 more times. Make that 5.

ARGGHHH!

I love the NBA and I love basketball, it's my favorite sport to watch.
It helps that my team, the Warriors, are the most entertaining team to watch.

That's because the super stars normally play positions in which they drive the ball a bit more then the no names. More drives means more calls.

There's this retarded band wagon of baskteball haters out there. I used to be one too and I used to throw out the same cliche arguments as to why basketball sucks. It wasn't until I sat down with a group of friends that actually enjoyed the game and bam, it became more interesting and actually a fun sport to watch.

I disagree, OP. I think over the years the attitude of the game has morphed and needs to change back to earning points by making baskets instead of earning points for drawing fouls for foul shots. The goal isn't just to drive down the lane and get two points, the goal is now to get two points and a foul.

There used to be higher scoring games because defense didn't used to be as bad as it was. Players are more physical now defensively and it hurts the montra of the game. But people got taller, and instead of field goals and 3 pointers, dunking and layups were what guaranteed points.

Rather than allow more physicality, I think they can alleviate the fouls by raising the net. This gives them less of a chance to drive to dunk, which gives them less of a need to force the ball into the hole while drawing fouls at the same tme. They'll step back more, shoot more, rely on accuracy more, field goal more... foul less.

Raising the rim would be too dramatic a change to the game.

If the nba wants a more fluid, high scoring game, they need to discourage fouls, even at the expense of good defense. Maybe give teams the option of one shot and the ball, or two shots, for each shooting foul. If you get beat by your man, you'll think twice before fouling to prevent a layup, because then a possession might turn into 3 or more points for the other team.
