Basics about RAM

Hi there,

I wanted to know some basic things about choosing RAM like :

can we just use a single 8GB RAM chip instead of 2x4GB chips ?
or a single 16GB RAM chip instead of 2x8GB chips ?
will either of them make any difference keeping its price and performance under considerations ?

and If there is any thing else you want to tell about RAM like the there frequency
and compatibility with certain RAM and mobo etc.etc

^_^ TYSM in Advance 🙂

You mean 8x1GB, or 16x0.5GB? 8-16 chips is normal, I've seen 4, but I've never seen 2.

OK, I'm not really that dense, but come on, it's like, "hard drive," when talking about a case. DIMM, module, or stick, would do.

A single module will work fine. You just get half the total bandwidth, since most PCs have dual-channel controllers. In some cases, that can make a fair difference. In others, nothing.
