Basic4Android

Has anyone used this package and can they comment on it's ease of use and code quality. I coded some in VB a while back and it's for this reason I'm looking at Basic4Android, but without some feedback I would have no idea how good this package is.

Upsides?

Downsides?

What additional tools are needed/advised beyond the B4A_Bridge?

There is a reason why they highlight customers like IBM, HP, and GE, and it's not because those companies make great mobile apps.

Well I have some ideas but nothing nailed down at this point.

I get the impression that you're not a fan, but you didn't provide anything to clarify that view.

I have been pretty happy with the adk. The tutorials are solid as is the tooling, its very easy to start building apps with it given a couple of days concerted effort in tutorials. You will need to learn some Java as well but it does show you what the lines look like in all the tutorials.

Just to be clear, when you refer to adk are you talking about Basic4Android or something else? There seems to be something called "Accessory Development Kit" and it looks to be a package of add ons and not exactly a development kit to create executable code.

I don't have any experience with it.


Generally I would say though that unless you have a need to develop an app quickly(since you already know VB) and it's simple, you would be better off just learning Java.
