Can someone please give me some walk-thru advice on the following situation:
I am in the process of building a new system (XP based) and want to use a new 7200 HD as my boot disk. My current system (also running XP) has a slow and small drive containing several applications I want to carry over to the new system but for which I cannot locate the installation disks. I assume I will need some means to (a) format the new drive as a system/boot drive, and (b) copy over the entire old drive to the new drive in a manner that preserves the registries, system files, etc.
Can I install the new hard drive in my current system and do all the formatting and copying from there and then just physically move the drive into the new case? How do I go about doing such a copy procedure? Will the XP transfer wizard do the kind of "complete" copy I am looking to do here?
Thanks,
Ron
