In January, my car and my parents junky old van got citations. Mine was for blocking the sidewalk for $30. I usually park in the garage but my brother borrowed my car and parked it in the driveway, which blocked the sidewalk. The other was for my parent's van for not having current registration tabs for $45. They couldn't register it because it failed the smog test and was put PNO status. The amounts would go up if not paid within 21 days.

My citation was bullshit, but I said meh I'll just pay it. I told my parents to get me proof in 10 days that it was PNO. They handed me a bunch of papers, but none of them I needed to send to the company. I ended up just paying for both tickets and mailed them 1 check for $75 before the 21st day.

Then on June 11, my dad got a letter from the citation company that the citation for his van was short $10. It said we only paid $35 instead of $45. If my math is right, $30 for my citation and $45 for my dad's = $75.

Not only that, but I get this letter yesterday as my dad only picks up his mail once a month (his mail is sent to diff address), so now the $10 increased to $45 and had 14 days from date of letter to contest it. GRRRR!

The parking citation company has no phone number that I can call to clear this up. Is there any other way I can talk to someone? I've never had a ticket in my life so I don't know the correct procedure. I'm writing to the citation company and getting a copy of my check so hopefully this crap can be over with.

Cliffs:
2 citations for $30 and $45
Sent check for $75
5 months later, letter sent saying it was $10 short
now owe $45

What state or city has a company hand out citations for them? AFAIK, it's always an officer or city worker (parking enforcement).

Sorry forgot to mention. I live in San Bernardino, CA. A cop issued the citation around 1-2 in the morning and was left on our windshields. I guess the money is handled by an outside company because it said to send payment to a Citation Service Center in Santa Ana. I remember being so pissed about my ticket because our cars rarely block the sidewalk, so the one night it happens, we get a ticket. BUUUUUUT the neighbor across the street always parks their cars in the driveway blocking the sidewalk and they didn't get anything!

Over the course of a couple weeks, my sister recently had a bunch of tickets pile up in San Diego. Some were for expired registration and some were for not having the front license plate displayed properly. The ones issued by police officers were "correctable," so those weren't a problem. The thing is, the ones that were issued by parking enforcement officers came by mail and at least one came AFTER it was supposedly due before the price jacked up. My sister sent a check for the lower amount anyway because that was their fault. Anyway, due to all the confusion, we don't know which this was related to, but we actually got a $10 REFUND of an "overpayment" mailed to us despite the only previous indications implying that we owed more. Huh. Opposite experience.

If the car was parked blocking tghe sidewalk, then stfu about ever fighting it. I HATE when the sidewalk is blocked when I am out with the dog and a stroller. Learn to park. Next off tell your idiot dad to get his mail more often. As a side note, why does he have it sent to another address? Sounds like some sort if fraud is going on.

Yep, you are right, I have no sympathy for you.

If you had any reading comprehension at all, you'd see that this has nothing to do with "fighting" the citation. The OP paid in time and they said it was paid late, hence a larger fine. They only object to the higher fine.

If you had any reading comprehension, he stated " My citation was bullshit, but I said meh I'll just pay it". IMO this meant he didnt think he had done anything wrong. He may not have said directly that he would have fought it, but his statement led me that way.

i'm guessing they thought your check was for the first citation only, despite you paying more than the citation's value. just call them and say "i paid $75 including a second citation, number ######, which brings the total of my fines to $75, which has been paid."

Next time send two checks, each with the citation number on it.
