Basic computer site for newbie types?

I used to be in the whole computer scene, and would rummage and waste my hours away at all the techie sites and discussion forums..but I'm completely out of the loop now and couldn't tell you what Intel's latest chip is called.

Is there a good site then that just goes over the basics of it all?

Basically..I just don't have the drive to go through 30 page reviews as I once did, but would like to still be in the know of things.

I'm most interested in what's been happening in the whole AMD/Intel and ATI/NVIDIA battles in the past 2-3 years..

Theres really no other way. You're gonna have to do a lot of reading anyways. Anandtech would still be the best, really.
