Basic Car Maintenance Price Question

How much should I expect to pay to get an oil (synthetic)/oil filter change, brake fluid, and tire rotation? I know this should be common knowledge, but I don't have any 🙂

Brake fluid change and brake bleed or just topping the fluid off? There's no reason to pay somebody to top off your fluid. I would bet around $50-80 though unless you have some strange pricey car.

Right here you usually can find coupons for $20-25 oil change, but they don't like to accept it too much and you may have to wait until they have no work, or keep the car there for the day and pick it up at night.

Brake fluid change could cost $50-70, if you are not picky, do it with your new brake when due. If you are picky, learn how to do it yourself with a buddy.

Got quoted 80 for an oil/filter change with synthetic and tire rotation. And another 75 for the brake fluid replacement. I think I'm going to skip the brake fluid for now.

75 bucks sounds about right for a brake fluid replacement/bleeding. I hate doing it.

Why don't you do your own oil change and tire rotation? Usually costs me about under 20 bucks for synthetic oil and an oem filter and crush washer and about an half an hour of time.

If you don't want to do it youself (which would cost about $30-$40 total) you can just go to Walmart for a $49.97 synthetic oil change. Tire rotation costs $1.50 per tire or $6.00, so you can still save about $25.00 from your quote.

I wouldn't wish walmart service garage on anyone. The people that work there are the idiots who get fired from Midas.

If you run in Grand National / Buick GNX circles in high humidity Florida and have not heard of brake flushing/fluid changing, that is pretty fucking scary.

I never said I hadn't heard of it, I said I never did it, and it's not a hot topic in my experience, only in what I see in the ricer community.

Never had a brake failure, never had an issue.

normal expected maintenance probably wouldn't be a hot topic with real car guys.

"Yeah, Dawg! Checked the air pressure in my tires today. Feels good man!"
