'BASH BRUCE' ADS DEBUT

August 18, 2004 -- STATEN Island cable subscribers will be the first metropolitan area residents to see a new commercial calling for a boycott of Bruce Springsteen's anti-Bush concert tour.

The 30-second spot was produced by Dr. Marilyn O'Grady, an opthalmic surgeon from Long Island who is also an outspoken Conservative Party candidate for the U.S. Senate.

O'Grady's anti-Springsteen commercial made its debut yesterday on Albany cable TV, where it was seen during Fox News Channel programming.

Plans call for the spot to turn up on Fox News on other local cable systems, including Staten Island, where the spot will begin airing sometime next week, according to a spokesman for the O'Grady campaign.

No plans are yet in place for the spot to air in any of the other four boroughs, although that could change if O'Grady can get financial support for buying time on other city cable systems.

In the spot, O'Grady blasts Springsteen for launching an anti-Bush concert tour with 20 other rock stars that will visit 28 cities in October just before Election Day.

O'Grady says in the spot, "Here's my vote: Boycott the Boss. If you don't buy his politics, don't buy his music!"

Ah yes, I remember Lollapalooza 1992 so fondly. Was quite enjoying myself, Pearl Jam was putting on a great show. Eddie Vedder at some point during the show screeches " If George Bush wins this election I'm leaving this country and never coming back!!!"

He called it treason AGAINST ROCK 'N ROLL, not against the country. He didn't endorse Bush at all, nor Kerry, nor anybody. He just thinks rock 'n roll artists need to stay out of politics.

Havent you heard? the libs retroactively got rid of the electoral college, so legally, Gore won.

But if Kerry loses the popular vote and wins the electoral this year, the Electoral college will be a true champion of Democracy.

Ahem - correct me if I'm wrong, but Gore did in fact win in 1992 (at least in a sense), and it wasn't especially close. His opponent was named J. Danforth Quayle. It might be time to revisit American History 101.
