Based on my last balding thread, what is the evolutionary advantage to being bald?

okay... so most men go bald eventually. Now, based on the darwin's theory balding must have some evolutionary advantage. If so what is it? Was it that back in the day the men w/ more testosterone raped and pillaged more often or something?

Balding doesn't generally happen till after puberty. It probably has no evolutionary advantage.

Evolution only cares if you're able to reproduce. Once that occurs it's done with you and you're on your own.

By the time we are completely bald, our shoulders are getting bad too.

It's to alleviate stress on those worn out joints from needless brushing/combing. ;)

It allows for more aerodynamic profiles so older men can somewhat counter the speed lost with age, thus allowing them to continue to chase women.

Well, unless it happens very early in life, I don't think it affects a person's sexual attraction. This is the basis of darwin's theory, the ability of an organism to pass on it's genes.

It doesnt have to have an advantage. It doesnt have to be benificial to exist. Anyway, most go bald later in life at the point where they've already had children and passed on the gene.
